GSMAR October 2022

Newsletter #46

It is Fall Y’all !!!

Whose favorite season is Fall? For me it’s a tie between Spring and Fall but I absolutely love the Fall colors, smells and flavors. Seeing the mountains light up with oranges, reds and yellows has always been special. The corn mazes, the hay rides, the evenings around the firepit, the hot cider and so much more, speak to my soul. Traditionally throughout history, Fall was a celebration of the harvest. It was a time to celebrate all the hard work that went into growing from seed to fruition. The Fall festivals were a celebration of all they received from the land, to take them through the harsh Winters. Today, with modern machinery, we don’t celebrate the harvest as much but we still crave the tastes of Fall and the seasonal offerings farmers bring to our tables. Just last night at the grocery store, my wife and I bought some butternut squash so we can make some yummy soup out of it. I don’t know about you but my tastes changed when the cool air invaded right on time this year. I’m now craving soups and stews a whole lot more. Couple that with some warm bread and an apple pie slice and you’ve got one heck of a meal. I Can’t wait!

Submit your favorite Fall recipes to joshua@gsmar.org so we can publish them in the November Newsletter for everyone to try!

New Dues Structure

The Board of Directors has decided to go with committee suggestions to raise some dues and lower other dues. Beginning immediately with our current MLS and eKey billing, MLS Only Participant/Subscribers will pay $540. All Primary and Secondary members MLS dues will remain the same at $415.

In July’s membership billing and for any new Primary or Secondary member just signing up with us, GSMAR membership dues have lowered from $296 down to $250.

We want the fee structure at GSMAR to benefit our members as they continue to deal with the changing environment in the real estate industry. We believe, between the reduced membership dues and all the benefits we still offer, our GSMAR members will continue to grow and support our area.

Community Involvement

We are still taking donations for Isaiah House, specifically gift cards to retail stores like Wal-Mart and restaurants like Taco Bell or McDonalds. Isaiah House provides a temporary home for children being relocated from an abusive home to a foster home. In this process between homes, Isaiah House provides clothes and food for the children as most only have the clothes they are wearing when displaced. Please consider donating a gift card today. You can drop off your cards at the GSMAR office.

If gift cards aren't your thing, then drop off non-perishable foods for the Sevier County Food Ministry or a check would work as well.

Applications for the 2023 committees are being collected now!

Even if you served on a committee this year, you will need to fill one out and turn it in.

We need your help to grow GSMAR into an association that gives back to the community and members. Without committees, nothing could be done,

so help us out and volunteer just an hour or two per month for a great cause.

Applications can be found in Navica under resources, then Documents.

Look for the member involvement form, 5th one down.

Turn them in to rebecca@gsmar.org or drop them off at the GSMAR offices.
