GSMAR Newsletter #48 & 49

Merry Christmas

and a

Happy New Year!

Winter is upon us and we have the Holidays rapidly approaching, especially for those who haven’t gotten their shopping done like me. Canada has decided to give us a gift this year. Bitterly cold temps from Thursday night Dec. 22 till Tuesday Dec 27 will envelope our area with teens and twenties for highs and single digits for lows. Thanks Canada for the awesome gift of blue toes and fingers, y'all are awesome! Anyway, please check on those vulnerable to the cold like pets, elderly and homeless. Yes I said homeless. Buy them an extra blanket or two, some winter gear or put them up in a motel if you come across one that will let you; anything to spread some care and love during this time of the year. Don’t forget to cover water pipes, disconnect hoses and run heaters under the sink to keep your pipes from freezing. A constant drip will help too. Be prepared and be safe during this outbreak of deadly cold weather and we will see you next year.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the staff at GSMAR to you and your family.

Comptroller's Office Launches Redesigned Property Assessment Data Webpage

The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office has redesigned its most popular webpage with a new look and simplified search component. The updated webpage also features a responsive design for display on mobile devices.

The Tennessee Property Assessment Data (formerly Real Estate Assessment Data) webpage receives more than 20,000 visitors per day. The page allows Tennesseans to search for property values and other key information in counties across the state.

The top of the updated page has a simple property search function where users can select a county and then search for a property address, owner name, or parcel id. The page uses a smart fill technology to help visitors find results quickly.

The page also includes more search options for users who want to identify properties by subdivision, sale date, parcel classification, etc. A map of Tennessee allows users to quickly access information within a particular county.

Other new features include individual property pages that display building sketches and photos, if available. Users can also export and download information in a variety of formats including Excel, CSV, and PDF.

“Our Office is happy to enhance this widely-used resource with a simpler format. A truly successful webpage is not only easy to use but also adaptable to a desktop computer, phone, or other mobile device,” said Comptroller Jason Mumpower. “This page hosts millions of visits each year, and I’m confident that the user experience will be much improved with this new design.”

The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office maintains property assessment data for 86 of Tennessee’s 95 counties that utilize the state’s IMPACT Computer-Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system. The other nine counties, including Chester, Davidson, Hamilton, Hickman, Knox, Montgomery, Rutherford, Shelby, and Williamson, operate their own CAMA systems. The Tennessee Property Assessment Data webpage links users to these counties’ websites for property assessment information.

If you weren’t there for the GSMAR Christmas party, we missed you. Fun times were had by all as we Rocked Around the Christmas Tree at The Ridge Event Center.

Navica has changed some things for the better. It’s been two years almost to the day since we partnered with Navica as our MLS provider and they are an absolute gem of a company to work with. Some do not like the system but change is often hard to adapt to. Speaking of change, I’m sure everyone who has logged in to Navica has noticed the new look. In the works for months, this updated look is more user friendly and easier to use as it has been adjusted to meet several requests by their users. If you missed the tutorial by the Navica team live, you can view the videos on Navica by clicking the help button in the top right hand corner then selecting NAVICA Webinars/Tutorials. These will walk you through some of the basic changes they made to the system. It’s another adjustment, to another change but in the long run, we feel the system has changed for the better.
