For the winning entry!

This Month we are highlighting the upcoming GRI classes being offered each month, from March to August. We will have one class per month for a total of six classes for this designation. Each class will be taught by Susan Barnette who has brought us the TNREALTOR Forms class.

The schedule is currently as follows:

  1. March 12th

  2. April 9th

  3. May 7th

  4. June 11th

  5. July 23rd

  6. August 21st

To receive your GRI designation you must attend every class and make sure you sign in and out on every sheet that is required. Showing up late or leaving early is a no-no and will disqualify you from getting the designation. For more information on what GRI is and how it can help you become a more professional REALTOR, go to their website at https://www.nar.realtor/designations-and-certifications/gri-designation

It is an honor and privilege to serve as your 2019 GSMAR Board President. Already this year we have had our first broker breakfast and membership breakfast – both of which were well attended. I would love to see an increase in member involvement in our Community and at the Association. I want to encourage you to attend our meetings and also become active on our committees. We have committees and task forces that are interesting to everyone – from Awards to YPN. The REALTORS Care committee has some fantastic and fun projects planned! Please ask the association office to send you an Involvement Form or just stop by the office and talk with staff about our various projects for the year. Also, we’ll post announcements on the home page of Paragon. Please take a few minutes each time you log in to look these over as they are very important. As always, if you have anything you want to discuss, please contact me at gsmarpresident@gmail.com I will answer all email received!

Coming together, sharing together, working together, succeeding together.~

Individually we are one drop but together we are an ocean. --Kathryn Lovell 2019 GSMAR President

Theresa Raymond (MLS Chairperson) brings you the MLS Minute of the Month.

Participation on the MLS is awesome. We have about 13 to 20 members that work very hard to come up with suggestions, task force things and make new rules. We are working towards a great 2019. Changes come during just about every meeting and will be presented at the following Membership Breakfasts. Brokers get a sneak peak at their breakfasts.

We need each and everyone of you to help with everyday items. Please keep hitting that correction button when you feel you see something that should be addressed. You should not feel like you are doing something wrong....A great association comes from all its members working together.

Here are some things we have accomplished already this year:

  • Make a sub lot category for lot/land listings.

  • Escalation of fines for MLS listing errors. Motion to: (give 72 hours notice, 30 days to pay fine, after 60 days lose access)

  • NAR rules - GSMAR staff emailed out 02/15/2019

  • Working on making a remote MLS orientation test

If you have suggestions or comments please feel free to email GSMAR staff directly or your 2019 MLS Chair Theresa Raymond - theresasellstn@gmail.com

Our affiliate program has grown abundantly over the past year. We now have 73 businesses enrolled. We are overwhelmed and grateful for the support we have received from our affiliate members. They help us to better serve our members and gain potential clients while doing so. We want our affiliates to get the most out of our program. We appreciate each affiliate who has committed their time and money to sponsoring classes, serving on committees, and assisting us with hosting events. We are currently in the process of revising and improving our program. As I'm sure most of you have noticed, if you have been in our building, we have given our affiliate table downstairs a makeover. Now, with the business card shelves it will be much easier to find them and search for the type of business needed. Also, we have added the privilege of an affiliate being displayed on our table as our "affiliate of the month". This will be a random drawing chosen from all of the businesses who sponsor an event within that month. We will continue to explore new ideas to help our affiliates gain more exposure and advertise their businesses. I know the staff and members at GSMAR greatly appreciate all of the wonderful businesses who are affiliated with our association.

I have never worked in an office before and was very honored that Kathy and the Board of Directors took a chance and hired me. I have developed a love for this association and have become passionate about real estate. I enjoy troubleshooting Paragon and handling support calls. Issuing fines is my least favorite part about my job but we are proud to say that most of our agents stay in compliance so that does not happen very often. I have now been at GSMAR for a full year. Whoever said "time flies when you are having fun" was definitely right. I am blessed to be able to work with my co-workers and our members who make coming to the office everyday an enjoyable experience.

Just a little background information about me: I was born and raised right here in beautiful Tennessee on a small farm. I am 27 years old and have a brother who is 5 years older than me. My parents still live in New Market where I grew up. I attended Jefferson County High School and graduated in 2010. I married my high school sweetheart. We were married for 8 years before we divorced. I quickly learned that sometimes the plans we have for ourselves are not God's plans. He knew what was best for me and landed me in a job that I love and gave me a much healthier relationship. I have a 6 year old video-gamer son and a 3 year old unicorn-loving daughter. They are my biggest blessings.

I thank you all for making me feel welcome at GSMAR and giving our association a warm, friendly atmosphere. I hope I can return some of the kindness and love to our members that I have been shown.
