Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE)

In line with National guidance, PSHE is an integral part of our balanced and broad curriculum at Groombridge St Thomas which:

  • promotes the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school and of society

  • prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life’

We base our teaching and learning of PSHE on three core themes within which there is broad overlap and flexibility:

  1. Health and Well-being

  2. Relationships

  3. Living in the Wider World

E-SAFETY

As outlined in our e-safety policy (downloadable from the information/policies tab) , children in KS1 are taught to:

'use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private; identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact

on the internet or other online technologies'

Recommended Book List

This list is by no means definitive. It just gives a list of the kinds of books usually enjoyed by each year group. Some of these may be used by the class teacher as a teaching tool. All children will develop their own preferences and many will return to favourites many times regardless of ability.
