Anne Kelly Tromsness
has worked as a teaching artist and theatre educator for almost 20 years. An experienced theatre practitioner, Anne regularly performs and directs in regional professional and educational settings. She currently serves as the Drama Instructor for the ARMES Program, and teaches the Theatre Foundations / Th1 CP and the Beginning Acting Ensemble at the Fine Arts Center.  Anne formerly served as Education Director at Greenville’s The Warehouse Theatr where she developed and implemented local and regional programming in theatre education, performance,  and community engagement, also building a nationally recognized Shakespeare touring program serving regional performing arts centers. She has served as lead teacher for the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities IGNITE program, a summer intensive in creative process for middle school students, and as a teaching artist for the Metropolitan Arts Council's SMART ARTS initiative. For the past three summers, she worked with the SC Arts Commission, piloting an arts integrated literacy program in Williamsburg County. Anne was a founding member and Co-Artistic Director of The Distracted Globe Theatre Company, a teaching company producing classical and classic comedies as well as new works at The Warehouse Theatre. Anne has also taught at Christ Church Episcopal School and  the SC Children’s Theatre, and was the Director of Outreach, and Community Service and Service Learning Coordinator at the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Anne holds a BA in Women’s Studies from the University of South Carolina, and an MA in Arts Administration from Winthrop University. Her areas of special interest include Shakespeare, collaborative practice, improvisation, and directing. She has performed in NYC, throughout New England, and in South Carolina. In 2018, Anne completed her teacher certification in the Michael Chekhov Technique for Acting and Directing, through the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. Anne is a member of Actors' Equity Association,the union representing professional actors and stage managers in theatre in the United States.
