About Me

My name is Scott McAnally and I am very excited to be returning to Wade Hampton HS for another great year! I am originally from Southeast Michigan and relocated to the Greenville area upon completing my degree program at
Michigan State University. While at MSU I studied history and English language education and received a Bachelor of Arts in history and an ESL teaching endorsement. In addition to my passion for social studies education, my interest in teaching English language learners grew from my experiences working with displaced refugees at a resettlement support center in Lansing (Refugee Development Center).

Outside of my content area, I am also an avid supporter of fine arts education. I was a member of the band and orchestra programs at my high school and was heavily involved in the marching band. My dedication to the activity grew when I started marching drum corps -- first with the Capital Regiment (Columbus, OH) and later with the Cadets (Allentown, PA). After completing my time as a member, I started teaching marching band and drum corps with a number of different groups, including the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band (Canton, MI), the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps (Boston, MA), the Cadets Drum & Bugle Corps (Allentown, PA), and more recently the Furman University Paladin Regiment Marching Band (Greenville, SC)

My wife Loren and I are thrilled to be living in the Upstate and look forward to discovering all that the Greenville community has to offer. We recently adopted a dog Zoe (she's a Catahoula Leopard Dog) and she has been such an energetic and lovable addition to our family. My wife and I are also expecting our first child in January! Our family just keeps growing!

My wife and I adopted Zoe in April of 2015. She is a Catahoula Leopard Dog and has been an energetic and lovable addition to our family.

One of the highlights of my summer was going to DCI Finals in Indianapolis to watch the group I taught (the Cadets) perform in front of over 20,000 people!

Here is a great video from the event: DCI Finals 2015 Montage

I was able to visit New York City while on tour with the Cadets this summer. I spent most of my time on the High Line elevated boardwalk and park. If you ever get a chance to visit New York City I'd highly recommend checking out this innovative and artistic park!
