The ARMES Program at the FIne Arts Center is a tuition-free arts program designed to meet the needs of students in grades 3 through 8 who have demonstrated outstanding talents and a deep interest in dance, strings, theatre or visual arts. The purpose of the program is to allow students to explore their chosen art form in depth while promoting individual creativity.
What are the ARMES Program's Objectives?
1. Allow young students to develop as artists
2. Create a stimulating learning environment in which students experience both intellectual and social
3. Develop behaviors useful in self-directed learning
4. Heighten enthusiasm for learning
5. Increase knowledge and use of creative problem-solving and critical-thinking skills

Will ARMES interfere with regular school work?
Classes are taught at a pace and level of complexity appropriate for artistically gifted children with similar abilities and interests. Classes contribute to the development of these children in significant ways, which may include field trips, creative writing, and limited homework. Participation in the ARMES program does not excuse students from their regular school assignments and grade maintenance.
How can a student participate in this program?
Any interested student must first obtain a nomination form to be completed by a teacher, parent, or self. The student will then be scheduled for an audition in the spring. Nomination forms can be completed online. Nomination process begins in mid-school year for the upcoming year.

Are private, charter and home school students eligible for this program?
Yes. All Greenville County Students in grades 3 through 8 are encouraged submit an application if they have an interest in participating.
Where and when are the classes?
All ARMES classes are held after regular school hours. Students attend classes twice a week for a total of three hours of instruction per week. Dance, Drama, Strings and Visual Arts classes are held at the Fine Arts Center for the 2017-18 academic year.
What is the cost and is transportation provided?
The ARMES program is provided tuition-free; however, funding guidelines do not provide for transportation. It is the family's responsibility to get the student to and from class. We do encourage carpooling and will assist with carpool arrangements if possible.
