About Mrs. Hawkins

My name is Amy Hawkins.  I am the Literacy Specialist and an interventionist at Summit Drive.  I work with first graders who need extra assistance in reading and I also work closely with classroom teachers.  After graduating from Clemson University, I taught first grade in Anderson County for 8 years.  I received my Masters in Reading Education and then stayed home with my daughters (Ella and Abby) for two years.  After that, I returned to teaching as a part-time reading interventionist.  This will be my 13th  year teaching at Summit Drive (Before becoming a Literacy  Specialist I spent three years in fourth grade and two years in second grade).  I look forward to working with you so that your child can develop new talents, skills, and abilities in reading this year.  I really love teaching and will do everything I can to make this year a very successful and happy one for your child.
