Cranial Osteopathy

Cranial osteopathy, or osteopathy in the cranial field, is a gentle osteopathic technique that works using the same principles as other techniques in osteopathy: realign the structure of the body and it will work more efficiently.
Cranial osteopathy is ideal for people of all ages, including children from newborns to teenage, expectant mothers, older and frail people. It is practiced by some osteopaths.

Craniosacral therapy is based on cranial osteopathy, but is also practiced by non-osteopaths.

There are various philosophical backgrounds to cranial osteopathy. One movement within osteopathy is based on a biodynamic approach to human development as discussed in the embryology textbook by Erich Blechschmidt in The Biodynamics and Biokinetics of Human Development. Osteopathy using this concept is known as Traditional Osteopathic Studies, and is based on the syllabus by Dr James Jealous DO.

Tom Greenfield has completed the postgraduate syllabus for traditional osteopathic studies.
