Opus23™️ Genomic Analysis Software

Get your genes analysed at Greenfields London with Opus23™
If we suggest you consider doing a ‘nutrigenomic consultation’ we will ask you to purchase a test kit from 23andMe. The ancestry only kit costs £99 GBP or $99 USD and is available directly from or depending on your location. Alternatively we can provide you with a kit, which we will register on your behalf. When you receive the test kit you will have to collect a saliva sample, fill out the forms, and then mail it back.

In about three weeks you will receive an email that your results are ready. You then log in to 23andme, download the results as a raw data ‘ZIP’ file and email it to greenfields at least two weeks before you come in for the nutrigenomic consultation. Alternately (with your permission and login details), we can download it for you.

Once we have the raw data we then can load it into Opus23™ and begin our analysis.

How does it work?

23andMe reports around 650,000 individual genetic markers called SNPs, or single nucleotide polymorphisms, which simply indicates that at some point in the genome there was a variation in one of the letters of DNA (A,T,C,G) from what was normally to be expected. For example, a person might have a SNP with a ‘C’ at that location, whereas a ‘T’ would normally be expected. SNPs are very common, as each of us are uniquely different genetically from each other. Many SNPs have been associated with certain risks (such as diseases or susceptibilities).

Opus23™ sorts through the results and looks for these special SNPs. It then activates it own analytic software and reports back to the physician any areas of special interest.

Opus23™ takes raw genomic data and using an incredible array of software tools,
converts it into medically relevant information.

What is a nutrigenomic consultation?

When a clinician at greenfields suggests running Opus23™, you will be asked to schedule a nutrigenomic consultation. This is a 90-minute visit where the clinician will analyze the Opus report data and relay its results back to you. Any specific recommendations regarding lifestyle changes, nutritional therapies, supplements or other naturopathic therapies will be discussed at that time.

New functions are constantly being added to Opus23™. With each new release of Opus23™, your COE clinicians will continue to run your data through each new version. Tom and Jacqueline Greenfield are curators of the Opus 23 software, and regularly contribute algorithms and improvements to the programme.

Opus23™ Checklist:
  • Your clinician recommends Opus23™ and a nutrigenomics consultation.
  • Schedule the nutrigenomic consultation at least 8 weeks in advance with our reception staff, and prepay for the appointment: £600 ($700 if you are in US).
  • Purchase a 23andMe test kit from or from greenfields (£99 GBP) or ($99 USD)
  • Carefully follow all the instructions when the kit arrives, collect a saliva sample, fill out all forms, and return to 23andMe as soon as possible.
  • Provide raw data to greenfields when notification is received that your 23andme test results are ready.
  • Download the raw data file and email it to the address we’ve provided to you, or supply us with your login data (email address, password and secret answer) and we will download it for you.
  • Arrive for your scheduled nutrigenomic consultation for the Opus23™ analysis results.
Opus23™ was conceived and programmed by Dr. Peter D’Adamo, Distinguished Professor of Clinical Sciences at the University of Bridgeport, and Director of the Center of Excellence in Generative Medicine. However, he has had lots of help. Over twenty naturopathic physicians and students, including Tom and Jacqueline Greenfield, actively curate the various Opus23™ databases, constantly updating them as new information is reported. Opus23™ was designed with one simple goal: to allow the physician to make the most information-rich judgments possible.
