Day D

From the Principal:

Yesterday I shared a little bit more about digital citizenship.  If you have noticed, around the school are some signs that were created by Mrs. Lockhart’s Health classes focused on being a good digital citizen.  When you are online, I want you to keep these 4 simple rules in mind:

·         Treat others the way you want to be treated

·         Be safe

·         Know the rules

·         Be vigilant

Just as school safety is everyone’s responsibility, good online etiquette is also all of our responsibility.  If you see something that is not right, you need to report it right away.  Don’t fall into the peer pressure and participate in online activities that could hurt someone else.

Day C

From the Principal:

Technology plays a huge part our everyday lives.  One of the terms that I hear consistently over and over again is digital citizen.  What does digital citizen mean?  What does it mean to be a good digital citizen?  With technology, we now live in a world that gives us instant access to information and instant access to people.  Not just people in our school, in our homes, in our neighborhood or communities, but people from around the world.  Being a good digital citizen means to demonstrate and practice safe, responsible, and legal use of technology. A good digital citizen is someone who understands the rights and responsibilities that come with being online and someone who uses technology in a positive way.  There is no deleting once you put your information out in the digital world.  While you might be able to delete a tweet or an instant message or a post on your Instagram account, once it is out there, it is out there for good.  Think about your actions, your posts and how you communicate or operate in the digital world and on social media.  Your actions now, could have a huge impact on your future success.

Day A

From the Principal:

Friday I gave you a math problem to figure out.  If we have 183 days of school and you miss 2 days each month of school, what percentage of time are you at school?  The answer is 89%.  While there will be days that it is important not to come to school due to illness it is important to remember that chronic absences from school add up.  While the teachers will help provide support to catch students up that miss instruction, over time, 2 absences a month add up and students will begin to feel the effects of this missed instruction.  Think about how many times you have missed school.  Attendance does matter and can play a huge impact on your education and your future.

___________________________________________________________________________________

Cooking Club will meet this Wednesday afterschool in room 131.

Arcadia’s wrestling team took to the mat this weekend.  Winners were Aiden Shultz, Joe Molica, Logan Bassett, Dylan Modzel and Jordan King.  The boys are back in action tonight as they travel to Canandaigua.

Coach Keating's Girls Modified Basketball Team beat cross town rival, Athena, last night 20 to 15. Estafania Martinez-Munoz and Tashi Forkell both helped the Lady Titans surpass the Trojans with 4 points each.  Ava Taylor, Hailey Romansky and Kaitlyn Geraci also added to the Lady Titans score board while playing strong defense and letting few players past them!  Mahari Walker played strong on the boards with several rebounds while Emily Kryger played an unstoppable defense!  The Lady Titans are off to a GREAT start, be sure to stop by for a game!

Last night the Greece Arcadia Varsity boys bowling team suffered its first loss of the year to Brockport 4-1 in a non league match.  The Titans started out strong with a big first game of 1090, but the pin carry started going away and the boys struggled to the finish.  Arcadia was led by Tyler Snedden with a consistent 212, 205, 216 for a 633 series, Michael Bennett with games of 237, 203, and 217 for a nice 657 series, Owen King with games of 244, and 200 for a 633 series, Zack McDonald with a 211 game, and Jason Jones with a 206 game.

The Greece Arcadia girls varsity bowling team, with a very depleted line put up a good fight to defeat Brockport 5-0.  It was a good solid showing for the girls.  Arcadia was led by Ashley Pastor with her new high series of 417, Lizzy Anderson with a 156 game and 460 series, Gabby Carter with a 147 game and Michele Rapp with games of 173 and 191 for a nice 494 series.

Day I

From the Principal:

I started to share information with you last week about attendance and the importance attendance plays in your learning and the learning of the other Titans around you.  I am going to give you a little math challenge to think about today and over the weekend.  We have a total of 183 days in the school year over a 10 month period.  If you were to miss just 2 days each month, what is your percentage of attendance for the school year?  Think about this and I will share the answer Monday morning on the announcements.

______________________________________________________________________________________

The Mod B Girls Basketball Team #2 played a very hard fought game yesterday in dropping a 31-28 decision to Brockport. After a quick, early lead the Lady Titans fell behind, but battled throughout and a late 3 point attempt just missed tying the game. Dilyet Daniel played her best game this season scoring 6 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and leading the team with 3 steals. Cayla Raye nearly matched her totals with another 6 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals. Arcadia was led by Ayanna Bailey who totaled 8 points, 9 boards and 3 steals. Monday the girls travel to Spencerport to face the Rangers, looking for their second win.

The Greece Arcadia varsity boys bowling team remained undefeated in league play by upending Athena 5-0.  Arcadia was led by some great bowling by Brandon McPhee with a 228 game, Tyler Snedden with a 237 game, Will Neerbasch with games of 200 and 214 for a 609 series, Zach McDonald with games of 254 and 235 and a 679 series, Owen King with games of 203, 246, and 231 for a solid 680 series, and a huge night by Michael Bennett on games of 264, 236, and 265 for a 765 series.

The Greece Arcadia varsity girls bowling team is starting show improvement with a much better outing against Athena however lost 5-0.arcadia was led by Ashley Pastor with a season high series of 402, Brooke Scioria with a 181 game, Sydney Kraft with a 209 game and a solid 568 series, Gabby Carter with a 159 game, and Michelle Rapp with a nice 187 game.

From the Principal:

Just a reminder that if you are arriving to school prior to 7:55 am, you are only allowed in the building if you are going to be in the cafeteria eating breakfast or in a designated classroom with a teacher.  We are seeing an increase in the number of students that are arriving to school early and spending time in the halls with friends or at their lockers.  All early morning activities begin at 7:20 am and breakfast in the cafeteria opens at 7:30.  If you are coming to school for an activity prior to the school day, we are now going to ask that you please sign in in the main foyer.  This will help us to ensure we are aware as to what students are in the building before the school day begins.

From the Principal:

Yesterday I asked you to think about attendance at school and how absences can affect your learning.  For the first marking period this year, our school had an attendance rate of 96.10%.  At the 5 week mark, our attendance rate for the school fell to 95.41%.  These numbers mean that 96 percent and 95 percent of our students were in attendance at school these days.  What typically happens is as the school year progresses, we will see the attendance rate fall slightly.  Research shows that missing just 10% of the school year, which averages out to 2 days per month will negatively affect your academic performance.  How does excessive absenteeism affect your learning and the students learning around you?

______________________________________________________________________________________

The #2 Mod B Girls Basketball team battled Eastridge yesterday and dropped a 37-27 decision to the visiting Lancers. Playing an aggressive throughout, the Lady Titans were strong on the boards and got to the foul line often. Leading Arcadia was Ayanna Bailey who scored six points and pulled down an amazing 23 rebounds. Sara DeSantis also was a force inside with 8 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Arianna Sloan led the squad with 3 steals in addition to grabbing 7 rebounds and Autumn Evert tied for the team lead in scoring, also netting 8 points. Monday the team goes on the road to face Olympia.
