It's Skyline Drama's first big event of the 2017-2018 school year! Come out to celebrate the start of our season, and meet all the cool kids! The night will feature free food, an open mic, a poetry slam, a feature performance by the brand new Skyline Slylines team, and the first Improv Cage Match of the year! Last year, Kazum Jackson's Hilarious Plague (from UUYT's Youth Theatre Conservatory) went undefeated in the cage matches, prompting us to change from a King of the Hill format to a Bracket. As last season's champs, Kazum Jackson will be our featured special guest at our first improv cage match of the year! The actual competition, though, will be an exciting duel between Olympus High School and Perry High School! Don't miss it!

SCHEDULE:
3:00pm, Skyline Courtyard: Opening Social (Free Food!)
5:00pm, Skyline Black Box: Open Mic and Poetry Slam
7:00pm, Skyline Black Box: Improv Cage Match

Improv Workshop - Musical Improv with Ben Brinton
Saturday, September 16, 9:00am-noon
Skyline High School
3251 E 3760 S, SLC, UT 84109
Students $10  SHS ITS Members $8*  Teachers FREE

Every month, on the morning following our Improv Cage Match, Skyline Drama hosts a special guest instructor who teaches a 3-hour workshop in improvisational theatre. We're proud to announce that our special guest instructor for September is local musician and improvisor Ben Brinton!

Ben is a master of musical improv, and will be teaching a master class in how to create improvised songs, on the spur of the moment, suitable for use in any kind of improv show, be it long or short form. No experience in musical composition is required, nor do you need to play an instrument. This class is perfect for anyone interested in learning the fundamentals of musical improv, as well as experienced improvisors looking to exercise their musical muscles. And, Ben is quite adept at helping those that may be terrified of singing and rhyming in public through simple processes for creating music on the fly.

This workshop is open to any and all secondary and higher ed students, as well as their teachers.
