April 16, 2018


1.   ATTENTION SENIORS!!  You have UNTIL NEXT WEEK on Tuesday, May 1, to TURN IN your BABY and SENIOR PICTURE!  YEARBOOK will NOT ACCEPT any PICTURES AFTER this DEADLINE!  Your SENIOR COMPOSITE PICTURE will be the PICTURE USED for the YEARBOOK if you HAVE NOT SUBMITTED your PICTURE by the DEADLINE.  Please get those snapshots to Mrs. Merritt this week!

2.   PROM TICKETS are on SALE DURING LUNCH PERIODS for $15 A TICKET.  A COMPLETED DANCE FORM will NEED to be TURNED IN to PURCHASE a TICKET.  DANCE FORMS are LOCATED in the MAIN OFFICE.           

3.   Not ready for the PROM memories to end, then come to the AFTER-PROM ACTIVITIES.  AFTER PROM is IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING PROM in the GYM UNTIL 2:00 AM .  There are many FUN ACTIVITES including laser tag, knocker ball, foot darts, photo booth, door prizes and more.  TICKETS are $5 and are on SALE DURING LUNCH PERIODS.  SEE Brayleigh Anderson or Dalton Oder with QUESTIONS.

4.   SENIORS:  If your parents are classified employees of Graham (not teachers or administration), be sure you apply for the OAPSE Scholarship due TOMORROW (4/27).        

5.   SENIORS:  Your HELP is NEEDED with the SENIOR VIDEO!  Please SEND ANY VIDEOS or PICTURES you have from THIS SCHOOL YEAR to Mrs. Cromwell, Joey Sanchez, Bre Griffith or Karson Anway.  If you NEED HELP, STOP BY ROOM B130.   

6.   ATTENTION SENIORS:  ANY SENIOR wanting to be a PLAYER or CHEERLEADER in the POWDERPUFF GAME on Friday, May 25 needs to SEE Ashton Arnett DURING the SCHOOL DAY or AFTER SCHOOL in the CAFETERIA UNTIL 2:40 to SIGN UP.  ALL PLAYERS will NEED to PAY $15 to COVER a TSHIRT/ENTRY FEE.  PAYMENT is DUE by Friday, May 11.  NO LATE PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

7.   Do you want to learn more about how the government works?  Love a good debate?  Interested in learning valuable leadership skills?  If so, you may be interested in our school’s Youth In Government organization.  Stop by Mrs. Traylor’s Goal room NEXT WEEK on Wednesday, May 2, DURING FLIGHT TIME for more information.

8.   We recycle paper, but what about other things???  FCCLA and FFA are working on a combined project to recycle plastics and food.  Roughly 50% of all produce in the US is thrown away – some 60 million tons or $160 billion worth of produce annually.  A compost will be placed outside near the cafeteria to begin reusing all fruit and vegetable waste from the lines and from food preparation.  You will also see a black bin and 3 blue bins throughout the school soon to begin collecting plastic bottles!  FFA will also be rolling out a project to collect plastic lids next week.  These lids will be provided to make benches for our school.  GET ON the RECYCLING BOAT at GHS!!

Navigating the College Process Using Naviance


 
 

College Application Process:

1.      Apply online using the Common App or directly through the school’s 
website.

2.      Request letters of recommendation & transcripts on Naviance.

3.      Submit a pink sheet for every college after you apply to that college.

·         (Pink sheets available in the Guidance Office)

4.      Send standardized test scores to all schools through College Board or 
ACT.

 

To request letters of recommendation on Naviance, follow these directions:

1.      Log into your Naviance account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To and scroll down to Teacher 
Recommendation.

4.      Under Teacher Recommendation: Click add/cancel requests

5.      Use the drop down menu, select teachers, and hit Update Requests (at the bottom).

If you applied to a school using the Common App, follow these directions to 
request a transcript:

1.      Log into your Naviance account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To

4.      Complete the steps in the “Common App Account Matching” box

·        Skip Step 1 if you have already created a  Common App Account

5.      You MUST complete Step 2

6.      Enter Common App email address and click ‘match’.

7.      Click request transcript.

8.      Click Lookup and Add College.

·        MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT CAMPUS!

9.      Click request transcript button.

If you did NOT use the Common App, follow these directions to request a 
transcript:

1.      Log into your Naviance Account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To

4.      Skip the blue “Common App Account Matching” box.

5.      Click request transcript.

6.      Click lookup and Add College.

·        MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT CAMPUS!

7.      Click request transcript button.
