ANNOUNCEMENTS

November 20, 2017

 

1.   ORDER FORMS for the STATE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT are AVAILABLE in the ATHLETIC OFFICE.  FORMS and PAYMENT are DUE BEFORE 8:00 Tuesday MORNING, December 5.  THIS is the DEADLINE, NO EXCEPTIONS!

2.   Cadets from West Point Military Academy will be here TOMORROW (11/21).  SIGN UP in the GUIDANCE OFFICE.

3.   The LEADERSHIP CLASS will HOLD a VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT to RAISE money for a SCHOLARSHIP in Sara Hess and the Wier family name.  The TOURNAMENT will be HELD Thursday EVENING, December 14, at 6:00.  The WINNING TEAM will be PLAYING the GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM for the CHAMPIONSHIP.  WRISTBANDS will be SOLD for $2.00 for ADMI SSION and ALL PROCEEDS will go towards the Hess and Wier family.  EACH TEAM NEEDS 6-8 MEMBERS with a MAXIMUM of 2 VOLLEYBALL PLAYERS from the GHS GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAM.  The COST for EACH MEMBER of the TEAM is $5.00.

4.   HOSA will be HOLDING a TOY DRIVE for Dayton Children’s Hospital UNTIL the END of DECEMBER. BRING in NEW TOYS (such as Hotwheels, children’s books and baby dolls) to DONATE. 

5.   The LEADERSHIP CLASS is SELLING T-SHIRTS to BENEFIT the Hess and Wier families.  PICK UP an ORDER FORM DURING LUNCH PERIODS.  PAYMENT is DUE when you PLACE your ORDER.  NO PAYMENT will be ACCEPTED AFTER TOMORROW (11/21).  Make CHECKS PAYABLE to Kel’s Marking & Promotions.

6.   There will be a NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEETING NEXT WEEK on Wednesday MORNING, November 29, at 7:15 in Mrs. Ruzicka’s ROOM.  TICKET SALES and SERVICE PROJECT IDEAS will be DISCUSSED.  If you CAN NOT MAKE the MEETING, SEE Mrs. Ruzicka DURING FLIGHT TIME on Wednesday, November 29 OR Thursday, December 1.  SEE Mrs. Ruzicka for a PASS!!!   

7.   The FCCLA CANNED FOOD DRIVE has been DELAYED to the WEEK of December 4-8.  They will still ACCEPT DONATIONS if you have already brought in items, but it will NOT be TALLIED UNTIL Thursday, December 7.  The BREAKFAST will be Friday, December 8.  Thank you for your cooperation.

8.   ANY SENIOR that COULD NOT MAKE the SENIOR MEETING LAST WEEK on Thursday (11/16) needs to PICK UP your FOLDER in the GUIDANCE OFFICE.

9.   The MEDIA CENTER will be CLOSED TODAY (11/20) PERIODS 1 THRU 5.  6TH PERIOD STUDY HALL needs to REPORT to the MUSIC ROOM C132 TODAY (11/20).

 


Announcing the College Credit Plus meeting. This is set for JaNuary 11, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. This is the same night as parent/teacher conferences. We will have a college/employment fair going on as well.

Guidance

The Sara Hess Memorial Fund has been set up at The People's Savings Bank in Urbana. Any one wising to contribute can do so in person at one of the two locations: 10 Monument Square or 618 Scioto Street, Urbana.

Navigating the College Process Using Naviance


 
 

College Application Process:

1.      Apply online using the Common App or directly through the school’s 
website.

2.      Request letters of recommendation & transcripts on Naviance.

3.      Submit a pink sheet for every college after you apply to that college.

·         (Pink sheets available in the Guidance Office)

4.      Send standardized test scores to all schools through College Board or 
ACT.

 

To request letters of recommendation on Naviance, follow these directions:

1.      Log into your Naviance account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To and scroll down to Teacher 
Recommendation.

4.      Under Teacher Recommendation: Click add/cancel requests

5.      Use the drop down menu, select teachers, and hit Update Requests (at the bottom).

If you applied to a school using the Common App, follow these directions to 
request a transcript:

1.      Log into your Naviance account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To

4.      Complete the steps in the “Common App Account Matching” box

·        Skip Step 1 if you have already created a  Common App Account

5.      You MUST complete Step 2

6.      Enter Common App email address and click ‘match’.

7.      Click request transcript.

8.      Click Lookup and Add College.

·        MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT CAMPUS!

9.      Click request transcript button.

If you did NOT use the Common App, follow these directions to request a 
transcript:

1.      Log into your Naviance Account.

2.      Click on the Colleges tab.

3.      Click Colleges I’m Applying To

4.      Skip the blue “Common App Account Matching” box.

5.      Click request transcript.

6.      Click lookup and Add College.

·        MAKE SURE YOU CHOOSE THE CORRECT CAMPUS!

7.      Click request transcript button.
