STEM-E

STAC (STEM-E) stands for Student Technology Advisory Council.

Mission statement is: “to promote the availability and use of technology in our schools, to be a resource for the effective use of instructional technology, to use technology to improve our local and socially-networked communities, and to further our knowledge and skills.”

This extracurricular club is made up of 15 students, four seventh graders and eleventh eighth graders.  The students will be meeting once or twice a month, attend two STAC conferences, and possibly compete in the spring.  During STAC meetings there will be technology discussions and have hands-on technology activities.

STAC/STEM-E is funded by a grant from STEM, WRESA, WNC EdNet, and the Cherokee Preservation Foundation.  The money that is given to our (STAC) STEM-E group will be used to purchase technology that the students are interested in and would like to learn more about.

For the 2016-2017 school year our students will be learning about aquaponic gardening along with robotics and other STEM-E projects.
