Ozaukee Family Services - Free Events

posted Nov 9, 2017, 7:21 AM by Jennifer Jeutter

Literacy for Little Ones
 - On Tuesday, November 14, from 6:30 - 8:00 pm Melissa White, Reading Specialist at Dunwiddie Elementary School, will present Literacy for Little Ones at the Family Enrichment Center (885 Badger Circle, Grafton). At this FREE program, parents will learn how reading books, telling stories, singing songs, and chatting about what they read can help infants, toddlers, and preschoolers develop language and pre-reading skills. The program is free, but anyone interested in attending should call 376-7774 to register. Free childcare is also available - inquire when calling.

SCREENAGERS - A local screening of SCREENAGERS is set for Wednesday, November 15, at 7:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran School in Grafton. The screening will be moderated by Nanci Schiman of Ozaukee Family Services. This is a FREE event and all parents and their teens/pre-teens are encouraged to attend.

In SCREENAGERS, physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston takes a deeply personal approach as she probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with surprising insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, SCREENAGERS reveals how tech time impacts kids’ development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

Mrs. Dillahunt wants us to assure our families that all is well and she will return after the winter holidays! Rachel recently moved to the area with her husband from Minnesota. She comes to our school with about six years of experience as a music teacher. Rachel is excited for the challenge of hosting the WES Holiday Concert which will occur in December and she is glad to be back in the classroom.
