Philosophy:

Over the course of my training and education, I have often heard the phrase that we are helping students to become strong learners during their formative years.  As I reflect upon that statement and my interaction with children, parents and colleagues, I realize that we are all in our formative years.  I have found that by providing service to others, a journey develops in which mutual service and growth are demonstrated and expressed.  It is a journey that I value with all my heart.  When we are able to foster strong supportive and trusting relationships, vulnerabilities and challenges can be understood and cared for; thus, allowing courage to find its way to the forefront.  When we find our courage it allows us to take the risks needed to problem solve/grow in ways we hadn’t imagined and let our strengths SHINE through!   I am grateful that our formative years last a lifetime and I look forward to our shared journey!

Philosophy:
I value communication and collaboration and believe it is a basis for productive relationships with students, their families and educational staff.  This leads to a better understanding of my student's interests, strengths, needs and progress. Communication can occur in a variety of ways and I invite all families to come in for a visit to an occupational therapy session.  These visits throughout the school year are a great way to show current skill and discuss carry over to home or community.  Furthermore, I value functional skills and the role of work.  I advocate for opportunities within our school setting to facilitate prevocation or functional skills in varieties of ways as this leads to aquisition of skills, ability to problem solve, independence and self worth.
