Fourth Grade Musicians

meet twice a week for 30-minute classes,

Musical demonstrations are scheduled for:


  • May 2, 2018 - Concert at KES

Concepts addressed in the Music curriculum
include a continuation and review of all
Third Grade objectives while expanding
to include:

 

  • Individual Eighth note and Eighth rest,
  • Eighth note upbeat,
  • Syncopation
  • Dotted quarter note,
  • Solfege pitches and intervals of Fa and Ti,
  • Major scale
  • Line and space letter names of the treble staff,
  • Immigrant folk songs and dances to integrate with classroom studies.
  • Native American songs and dances to integrate with
    classroom studies, 
  • Instruments of the Orchestra including a field trip
    to a Symphony concert.
  • Creating and notating an 8 measure song using the extended pentatonic scale.
  • Experiences playing original compositions.

          
Centers are used in this year to provide
enrichment activities that include:

  • Learning about composers,
  • Using music software,
  • Keyboard instruction and playing technique
  • Music literacy (reading and writing)
  • Playing music on various instruments alone and
    with others.

STUDENTS MAY ELECT TO JOIN THE BAND
 AT THE END OF THIS YEAR!
