College Scholarships

Grafton Music Parents Scholarship:
The Grafton Music Parents was started in 1956. Its goal was to provide support to the music staff of the Grafton Public Schools. Throughout its history, the Grafton Music Parents have contributed thousands of dollars towards musical instruments, textbooks, sheet music, and scholarships. These scholarships have been awarded to those students who have exhibited a desire to further their musical skills and talents.

Les Fonder Memorial Scholarship:

Mr. Les Fonder was the President of the Grafton Music Parents in the early 1970's. He was a saxophone player and lover of big band music. He had two sons who were very active in the music programs at Grafton High School. His son Mark is presently the Band Director at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Mr. Fonder's dedication and commitment to music education for all students is celebrated through this scholarship.

Thomas and Joyce Christie Music Scholarship:
Tom and Joyce Christie were music educators for the Grafton Public Schools. Joyce taught choral and general music at Grafton Elementary School and her husband Tom was the band director at Grafton High School for over thirty years. Their tireless dedication to the music programs for the Grafton Public Schools and service to the community are recognized through this scholarship.

Steve Vepraskas Choral Scholarship:
The Grafton Music Parents are honored to present the first Steve Vepraskas Chorale Scholarship. As many of you know, Mr. V., as he is affectionately known, was the Grafton High School Choir Director for 29 years. During that time he worked tirelessly with his students to build a choral music department that is second to none. His care, respect and love for his students, along with his enthusiasm and love of music were the catalysts for the many successes that his students enjoy today.
