Morning Drop Off and Parking Lot Safety!

posted Oct 5, 2017, 2:19 PM by Jean Ebel

Please CLICK HERE to read more from Mrs. Noel about morning drop off at GES!

If you are parking in the West lot to either pick up or drop off your child(ren), please pay attention to how they are opening their door when they prepare to get out.  Please be considerate of all parked cars and be diligent in making sure that doors do not swing open and hit the car next to yours.

Please remember when dropping off students in the morning......
  • *Pull all the way up along the drop off lane, this will alleviate traffic from building up on HWY 60
  • *When students are exiting cars, please have them exit from the door closest to the sidewalk
  • *If for ANY reason you need to exit your car when dropping off your child, please park and then walk them to the door.  We still have MANY families stopping alongside the sidewalk to help their child(ren) out of the car.  Please have your child prepared to exit the car when you pull up.  Again, if you need to help them out of the car PLEASE park and help them walk across to the sidewalk/entrance.
Thank you for your cooperation!

Get Outside and Move!

As you may have noticed, our school environment is already changing as work is started on referendum items. Construction fences have decreased the playground size, and students can no longer participate in Walking Club during recess breaks.  In order to give students an opportunity to be active and get out extra energy, the GES PTA is planning after school playground get-togethers for students and their families throughout the month of October. Please join us at Centennial Park each Wednesday in October from 3:30-4:30 pm.  We hope to see you there!

Grafton LEGO League Jr., for students in 5K through 3rd grade, is holding an information meeting for parents of children interested in participating. The session will be held on Tuesday, October 17 from 6:30 - 7:30 in the Grafton Elementary School Library. Parents will learn more about LEGO League and how to register their child. Parents of children who previously participated do not need to attend. Registration opens on October 16

The Grafton LEGO League is a district-wide, hands-on program that engages children through experimentation and a culture of sharing and learning from others. It goes beyond just “playing with LEGOS”.  After a 12-week program that includes research, building and computer programming, teams have the opportunity to showcase their project at the Grafton LEGO Expo on April 14.  CLICK HERE for more information.

The GES Trivia Night Fundraiser is fast approaching- Saturday, November 11th! Join us for a fun evening that raises money for our beloved school community. Event proceeds will allow us to continue to fund and provide the students all of the enriching programs that they know and love throughout this final year. If we surpass our fundraising goal of $2500, additional funds raised will be used to purchase iPads for the elementary schools given the growing demand of technology in the classroom.
