Red Ribbon Week is Oct 22nd-28th. It's a national initiative encouraging communities to take a stand against drug abuse.  It is a time to focus on encouraging children to make healthy choices, so they will be less likely to want to try using drugs. The theme for this year is: “Be Bright, Live Right- Stay Drug Free”. We will have themed dress-up days each day and students will have the opportunity to sign a banner indicating they plan to "Live Right and Stay Drug Free". Get Outside and Move!

As you may have noticed, our school environment is already changing as work is started on referendum items. Construction fences have decreased the playground size, and students can no longer participate in Walking Club during recess breaks.  In order to give students an opportunity to be active and get out extra energy, the GES PTA is planning after school playground get-togethers for students and their families throughout the month of October. Please join us at Centennial Park each Wednesday in October from 3:30-4:30 pm.  We hope to see you there!

Trivia Night!

The GES Trivia Night Fundraiser is fast approaching- Saturday, November 11th! Join us for a fun evening that raises money for our beloved school community. Event proceeds will allow us to continue to fund and provide the students all of the enriching programs that they know and love throughout this final year. If we surpass our fundraising goal of $2500, additional funds raised will be used to purchase iPads for the elementary schools given the growing demand of technology in the classroom. Click HERE for the event flyer.

Grafton LEGO League Jr.: Registration OPEN NOW through November 3rd

posted Oct 19, 2017, 2:15 PM by Jean Ebel   [ updated Oct 20, 2017, 6:47 AM ]

Students and parent coaches can register for the 2017-18 LEGO League Jr. season now through Nov. 3. The registration fee is $20. CLICK HERE for information about how to register. Teams will be announced at the end of November. The coach determines the meeting day, time, and location. Your child’s coach will contact you in December to find a day/time that works for the team. If your child can’t attend on the chosen day/time, we will make every effort to move your child to another team.

A parent information session will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17 from 6:30 - 7:30 in the Grafton Elementary School Library. Parents will learn more about LEGO League and how to register their child.

The Grafton LEGO League is a district-wide, hands-on program that engages children through experimentation and a culture of sharing and learning from others. It goes beyond just “playing with LEGOs”.  After a 12-week program that includes research, building and computer programming, teams have the opportunity to showcase their project at the Grafton LEGO Expo on April 14.
