I was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Phoenix, Arizona when I was in grade school. I briefly left Arizona to go to college at California State University, Fullerton where I majored in Political Science and minored in History and Communications. While at Cal State I was on the Varsity Debate Team and worked with High School Debaters. It was through coaching these students that I found my passion and came back home to Arizona to complete the coursework for my teacher certification. I hold a M.Ed in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University.
I have been teaching for 20 years, mostly at the high school level. Over the years I have taught Government, Economics, United States and World History, and Public Speaking. I have also been coaching Mock Trial for the past 17 years and am currently the Mock Trial Coach here at ASA. I love a good political debate and have been lovingly referred to as a "Government Nerd" by my students.
I am married and have two daughters, one who attends ASA. My husband is also a teacher, although he teaches Graphic Design and Photography at a different school.
I love to read, listen to music, and go to the movies. I love Science Fiction and anything involving Zombies. One of these days I might even make it to a Star Trek Convention.
