Welcome to the Moral Intelligence Planning Site!
This site has been designed to help you incorporate the virtues of Moral Intelligence into your teaching, classroom community, and school. Much of the work on this website is based on Michele Borba’s writing and research about the Moral Intelligences, as well as her book Building Moral Intelligence: The Seven Essential Virtues that Teach Kids to Do the Right Thing. As an educator today, I would highly recommend reading Michele Borba's book, as it is filled with information, research, and ideas surrounding Moral Intelligence. Many more ideas and publications by Borba can be found here.
The virtues of this website tie into Regina Public School Board's Shared Values. Each virtue incorporates the importance of belonging, knowing, respecting, and being responsible. The website promotes inclusion of all races, genders, abilities, cultures, and sexual orientation. My Moral Intelligence website’s goals completely align with that of Regina Public’s to create shared values that “transcend our differences and provide an equal opportunity to recognize and encourage the unique characteristics and contributions of students, parents/caregivers and staff.”
To say that teachers today are faced with many challenges is an understatement. Coping with increased class sizes, new programs, diverse learners, and an ever-increasing list of greater demands is challenge enough. How do we implement Moral Intelligences into our classrooms with our plates already full? To help you meet this challenge, we have created and compiled activities to suit all learners at all levels. We are hoping that by using our website, you are able to simply click on a link and use any of the activities that are listed. The prep work should be minimal, as we have completed as much of the prep as possible. Of course, you may need to tailor certain activities to meet your students’ needs, but we are confident that we have included at least one activity a month per age group and learning style.
We have divided our website into months, with each month centred around a certain Moral Intelligence virtue. These virtues will be listed in pages along the side of this website as they are created. We hope that each page can be used year after year and that teachers can choose the activities to fit their class.
