‪Tomorrow is a big day! We are asking our students and staff to wear pink if they have any to show solidarity against bullying. There will also be pink Velcro ribbons given out, free of charge! Let’s take a stand together, Vikings!

Information about the morning of opening day (Tuesday, September 8th)

The building will not be open until 8:40 am. At this time students that know the location of their homeroom will be admitted through the front doors and will proceed directly to that classroom where their teacher will greet them (please use Parent/Student portal to determine your child’s classroom for first period, Day A).

For those students that do not know their homeroom, they will be directed toward the soccer field side of the building. Those students whose last name begins with A-L will be guided into the cafeteria, and students whose last name begins with M-Z will enter into the gym through the back doors.

Once in the building, students will be asked to queue up in a socially-distanced manner in clearly-marked lines based on their last name. Those lines will lead them to a staff member at a table who will give them their home room information and direct them to exit and head to their classroom.

Again, this process will not begin until 8:40am, and students will be expected to wear masks at any time they cannot maintain 2m distancing.

***Also, we have technology information for students/parents/guardians regarding a Chromebook Project that impacts all students in our school. Please click on the following link for more information: Chromebooks Project - Letter to Families

See you tomorrow!

August 26th, 2020

Staff at YCMHS are excited to welcome back students to the building for in-person classes on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020.

We understand there will be a mix of excitement and concern as students head back to school, and we are currently working on our plan for re-opening while following safety and public health guidelines. The following is information to get you started, with more to come over the next several days:

  • In accordance with provincial education guidelines, the wearing of masks will be expected inside our building in situations where 2 meters (minimum) of social distancing is not possible.  This will include such areas as hallways and classrooms. Students are reminded to wear a mask upon entering the building, as well as transitioning from classroom to classroom. Students traveling on buses are also expected to wear a mask.

  • The TCRCE is providing all staff and students with two reusable masks

  • We are encouraging one member (parent/guardian or student) to pick up their masks starting on Thursday, August 27th by visiting the school office (outside window) during school hours of 9am to 3pm.

  • Students are asked to visit the PowerSchool Portal (Student or Parent) to determine the homeroom class of each student. The first class on a student’s schedule (Day A) will be their home room.

Please click on the following link for portal login:   Parent Portal

Please click on the following link for instructions on how to locate your homeroom, along with a school map with room numbers:  PowerSchool Portal for Homerooms and Map of School Instructions.pdf

  • For those that do not know their PowerSchool login information, please contact or call (902) 749-2810 (ext. 0)

  • Questions concerning School Supplies:  Students 9 to 12 are encouraged to bring a writing utensil and paper/binder to the first day; they will receive further instruction from individual teachers at that time.

  • More information will come over the next several days. Please continue to check our website, as well as monitor our social media accounts.
