A. P. Reid Insurance Bursary - $300

Criteria: Graduate who shown business and entrepreneurial spirit

Angad Hundal Memorial Award - $5,000

Criteria: Nova Scotian graduate between the ages of 16-18 years old at time of graduation; must be pursuing post-secondary education in the fall; essay and letters of recommendation required. For more information visit here

Angad Hundal Society “Emerge” Award - $2,500

Criteria: Nova Scotian graduate pursuing post-secondary education who has faced challenging circumstances in life and emerged victorious. For more information visit here

Application: Mail or email letter describing the circumstances focusing on, but not limited to, the following: challenges faced, causes and affects of challenges, approaches and outcome of challenges, people who helped and analysis of challenges in hindsight.

Anne B. Rafuse Memorial Scholarship - $3,000 (Varies)

Criteria: Graduate planning to obtain training at Dalhousie University, with preference going to student who attended Bridgewater Family of Schools.

Deadline: Submitted to Student Services by May 14, 2019 Annette McNeil (Wamboldt) Memorial Bursary - $250 (Amount may change)

Criteria: Graduate who exhibits characteristics similar to Annette; honesty, strong work ethic, and sense of fun

Association of Teachers of Exceptional Children - $500

Criteria: Graduate who through personal sacrifice and effort has made great strides in realizing his or her potential.

Assumption Scholarships - $1,500 x 6

Criteria: Graduating students who attain certain academic standards and who have financial needs; the applicant needs to be enrolled as a full-time student in a post-secondary institution for the fall of 2019, such as college or university; show an average of 70%

Autism Nova Scotia, South Shore Chapter Student Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate that has been impacted by autism and is continuing their studies at the post-secondary level

BHS Alumni Bursary - $750 x 2

Criteria: Graduate who lives in the town of Bridgewater and attended Bridgewater Junior [Senior] High School; involved in volunteer activities; well-rounded individual who has successfully combined academic with involvement in school and community

Black Educators Association Bursary - $500

Criteria: African Nova Scotian graduate with financial need planning to attend full-time post secondary institution

Bluenose Coastal Action Foundation: Dan MacPhail Memorial Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduating student who lives in BCAF watershed boundary planning to further education at post secondary education in the fields of Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology or Earth Sciences who has shown prior interest in environmental issues

Brandon Wentzell Memorial Bursary  - $300

Criteria: Graduate (male) who is interested in pursuing a career in a helping profession that may aid/counsel teenagers (especially with drug addictions)

Bridgewater and Area Kinsmen Norm Swain Memorial Bursary - $400

Criteria: Graduate who is planning to attend a recognized post-secondary institution, demonstrate high ideals and knowledge of kin.

Bridgewater & Area Lions Club Bursaries - $500

Criteria: Graduate pursuing post-secondary education, leadership, financial need, preferable a member of the Leo Club.

Bridgewater & Area Chamber of Commerce Bursary - $400

Criteria: Graduate who is entering a program in the field of business, who is also involved in the community

Bridgewater Junior High School School Advisory Committee Bursary - $250

Criteria: Graduate MUST have attended grades 7-9 at  Bridgewater Junior High School, going on to post-secondary education

Bridgewater Mall Family Dental Centre Bursary - $300

Criteria: Graduate who dealt with a personal or family difficulty during high school but went on to graduate and is accepted to a post secondary institution,  not based on grades.

Bridgewater Music Festival Music Education Scholarship - $500

Criteria: Graduate planning to pursue post-secondary education with a major in Music, keenly involved in school music and/or private study, active participant in the Solo Classes at Bridgewater Music Festival

Bridgewater Pharmasave Award - $400

Criteria: Graduating student with the top Grade 12 Biology mark

Bruce Sarty Memorial Athletic Bursary - $1,000

Criteria: Graduating student who has played at least one sport at varsity level (with basketball and/or soccer being given extra consideration) while at PVEC; planning to attend post-sec, consideration also given to student contribution in their school and community; must be in good academic standing.

Campbell Scholarship - Varies

Criteria: Commendable member of the graduating class

Captain Earle Wagner Scholarship - $200 (Amount may change)

Criteria: Graduate must be a well rounded student who was active in extra-curricular activities in the school and community

Centre Class of '71 Memorial Bursary - $500 (not available until 2022)

Criteria: Graduate from the feeder school system of Bluenose Academy

Charles F. Sweeny Memorial Scholarship - $500

Criteria: Graduate has or is experiencing difficult or challenging circumstances, financially or physically in their home or personal life; worked hard to achieve his/her goals; may be entering post-secondary or the workforce.

CKBW/Country 100.7 - Acadia Broadcasting Bursaries - $500 - $1,000 (Amount may change)

Criteria: Graduate entering a post secondary program in journalism

CLAPP Conservation Award - $500

Criteria: Graduate who resides in Southwestern Nova Scotia considering further studies and must be pursuing a career in nature conservation.

Coastal Cruisers Car Club Automotive Trades Bursary - $300

Criteria: Graduating student who is successfully enrolled in a vehicle related NSCC program

Cooperative Housing Federation (CHF) Diversity Scholarship - $5,000

Criteria: Graduate must be living in a CHF Canada member housing co-op in Nova Scotia; planning to attend a publicly funded Canadian University/College or apprenticeship training program full time; have used their knowledge and understanding of diversity to make a positive contribution to their school and/or local community, financial need.

Cora Wile Trust Fund Bursary - $300

Criteria: Graduate going on to post-secondary education (financial need).

Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada Scholarship - $1,000

Criteria: Graduate going onto to post-secondary education

CUPE Local 8920 South Shore Area Bursary - $500 x 5

Criteria: Graduate must be a dependent of a CUPE Local 8920 member

Cynthia and James Roland Snyder Scholarship - $500 x 2 (2019 will be the last year for this award)

Criteria: Graduate taking Business Administration at Acadia (preference to major in Accounting); taking BSc Kinesiology at Acadia or Dal (preference to Occupational Therapy); taking Nursing at Dal or St.F.X; or who intends to enroll in BEd at Acadia or St.F.X.; academic performance, financial need, school and community involvement will also be considerations.

Darlene Forsyth Memorial Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate who is a former Bayview student continuing their education at the post secondary level (preferably in field that helps others), student who has been active in the school community

David Fry Memorial Bursary - $1,000 x 2

Criteria: Eligible graduates must be competitive swimmers with Swim Nova Scotia and intend to swim competitively with a Nova Scotian university; must be a well-rounded student athlete with high academic standing

David K. Berkshire Memorial Scholarship - $2,000

Criteria: Graduate who will be attending post secondary education  in the field of business

David Lowe Memorial Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate who attended Bridgewater Jr High School going on to post-secondary education

Dayspring Fire Department Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate living in community of Dayspring, Upper LaHave, Rhodes Corner, Spectacle Lake or Wilkie's Cove.

Divert NS Scholarship Competition - $2,500 and $5,000

Criteria: Graduate who has demonstrated a commitment to the environment. Student must complete a research essay on the issue of film plastic. See application for more information.

Don MacPherson History Prize - $500

Criteria: Graduate who displays a high level of historical inquisitiveness, active participation in extracurricular activities

Criteria: Graduate in the top 3rd of the class going onto post secondary study and who has financial need

Criteria: Graduate living in the Lunenburg area and is entering a post-secondary institution

Criteria: Graduate of Nova Scotia high school entering first year university who has demonstrated an interest in multiculturalism and human rights

Dr. Todd Dakin Award/Dakin Dentistry Bursary  - $1,000

Criteria: Graduate pursuing a university education; involved in extracurricular activities; above average academic ability; positive attitude; service to community; financial need.

Earl Bailly Bursary Fund - Lunenburg Foundation for the Arts - $500

Criteria: Graduate (preference to student with a confirmed disability) and be pursuing a post-secondary program in the arts (music, visual art, dance, theatre, writing or fine craft)

Epilepsy Association of the Maritimes Bursaries/Scholarship - $500-$1,000

IWK Health Research Scholarship - $2,500

Criteria: Graduate must be pursuing post-secondary studies at a Maritime institution (college or university) in a field that will enhance research and/or innovation in health care; students submitting an application must include a cover letter, essay, letters of recommendation, and transcripts

John Abbass Sr. Memorial Scholarship - $2,000Criteria: Graduate pursuing post-secondary who have achieved/maintained an 80%+ average; child, grandchild, niece or nephew of the Family Business Association - Atlantic or have experience working within a family business in Nova Scotia; are entering studies with a business focus or related to their family business

Johnson Scholarship - $1,000 x 50

Criteria: Graduate who is a dependent of Johnson’s Insurance member/employee going on to a Canadian post-secondary institution.

Jordan Boyd Scholarship - $2,000

Criteria: Graduate must be registered during current playing season through HNS or NSSAF; pursuing post-secondary studies at Canadian University or college; committed to the principle of fair play and sportsmanship

Jordan's Principle Scholarship - $5,000

Criteria: Graduates who are First Nations students studying children's health or children's disabilities at a Canadian post-secondary institution; demonstrated commitment to Indigenous children's health and community service; demonstrated academic commitment and achievement; financial need will be taken into consideration. Criteria: Graduate planning to attend recognized post secondary institution full time who has demonstrated high ideals, community involvement and knowledge of kin.

Kinley Drug PharmaChoice Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate with a solid academic standing and going into health care studies

Knights of Columbus Jean Gaudet Memorial Bursary - TBA

Criteria: Graduate who is the son, daughter or grandchild of a current member of the local Knights of Columbus Council 6417; entering his/her first year of post-secondary; high academic performance; may consider financial need.

Knights of Columbus Simon J. Khattar State Scholarship - $1,000

Criteria: Graduate who is a practicing Catholic going into 1st year of post-secondary study

KP Rajagopalan Math Scholarship - $1,000

Criteria: KP Rajagopalan was a Math teacher at PVEC who was instrumental in helping to bring the IB Program to PVEC. This award goes to the graduate who has the highest IB Math 12 mark.

LaHave and District Fire Department Auxiliary Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate who is a resident of LaHave & District Fire Department area who has completed necessary requirements for chosen post-secondary field of study, community volunteer work.

Criteria: Graduate who is a child (up to age 25) of an NSTU member (with at least 3 yrs service in Lunenburg County), must be pursuing post secondary education.

Criteria: Graduate from Lunenburg or Queens counties, entering agricultural studies. Involvement in 4H would be an asset, but not required.

Lunenburg Fishermen's Memorial Society Bursary - $500

Criteria: Graduate must be an immediate family member of an active fisherman who earns his/her living from the sea

Criteria: Graduate who resides in the Lunenburg constituency and studying a trade at NSCC or other trade school

Criteria: Graduate who lives in Lunenburg West, demonstrates financial need and demonstrates leadership in the area of social awareness/justice

Criteria: Graduate who lives in Lunenburg West with leadership qualities, volunteers/involved in their community, preferably interested in politics or studying Political Science

Criteria: Graduate going on to an accredited post-secondary education institution in Atlantic Canada, high academic achievement and financial need

Mahone Bay Lions Club Bursary - $1,000 x 2

Criteria: Graduate who is a graduating student residing in the geographic area served by Bayview Community School with the final decision being based upon need, participation in school/community activities and academic achievement
