Recruitment Letter

posted Jan 24, 2018, 7:27 AM by Kim Gaetz

Here is some information regarding the attached letter, please see the attached for more information.

I am the research manager of the FORBOW study.  This is a study in youth health, particularly mental health.  It focuses on resilience.  The long-term aim is to predict youth who may be at risk of mental illness, and to develop early interventions.  It is a joint study lead by NSHA, IWK and Dalhousie.

The study started almost 5 years ago.  To date, we have 207 families, including 383 young people from across Nova Scotia, participating.  Some of our families have a history of mental illness while others do not – we are looking to include all interested families. It is a longitudinal study, with each family coming to see us once per year. This is generally a manageable time commitment.
