PARENTAL CONCERNS

If I have a problem with my child’s school, what should I do?

STEP #1 Contact the appropriate Teacher and/or Principal
If you have a question or concern pertaining to a particular student or an issue within a school, you should attempt to resolve the issue with the appropriate Teacher and/or Principal.  The majority of concerns can be resolved within the school.

STEP #2 Fill out a parental concern form & forward it to your Family of Schools Supervisor
The Chignecto-Central Regional School Board wants to ensure that parents receive prompt responses to questions and/or concerns that cannot be resolved at the school level.  If the issue is not resolved within the school, the next step is to pick up a Parental Concern Referral Form from your school, fill it out and forward it to your Family of Schools Supervisor.  The Supervisor may call upon other Central Office staff to help resolve the issue.

STEP #3  Refer your request to the appropriate Director
If the issue is not resolved by the Family of Schools Supervisor, request that your concern be referred to the appropriate Director at central office.

  • For questions dealing with programs, exams, text books, in-servicing, special education, student discipline, etc., your concern will be referred to the Director of Education Services, or designate.

  • For questions dealing with staffing & employee conduct your concern will be referred to the Director of Human Resources Services, or designate.

  • For questions dealing with building maintenance, transportation, custodial services, vandalism, etc., your concern will be referred to the Director of Operational Services, or designate.

  • For questions dealing with accounts, budgets, invoices, tuition, etc., your concern will be referred to the Director of Financial Services, or designate.

STEP #4  Request that your concern be referred to the Superintendent of Schools.

STEP #5  Request that your concern be referred to the appropriate Board Committee or full Board.
Please feel free to contact one of your Board Members directly with any question and/or concern you may have.  Board Members will ensure that your question and/or concern is referred to the appropriate staff for follow-up action.
