Important Message for Parents Regarding the 02 Program for 2019-2020:

Dear current and incoming O2 students, parents & guardians,

There have been public concerns raised in the past week about whether there will be sufficient supports in place for students next year in the Options and Opportunities (O2) program.

We want to assure you that the O2 program will continue this fall. The number of seats per program site will remain the same. As well, the funding to support activities such as field trips, job fairs, competitions, training and other supports for students will remain the same.

We will continue to hold student achievement and well-being as our top priority.

Important Information for Grade 9 Parents:

Celebratory Dance

The date for this year’s Grade 9 Celebratory Dance is May 29h (7 pm to 9 pm).  It is our hope and desire this Celebratory Dance will be a celebration of the students’ two years at BHJH.  In no way do we want this evening to cause students stress or anxiety. This should not be a financial burden on families with the various pressures that come with a Semi-formal or Prom.  A   We strongly encourage students and parents not to spend an excessive amount of money on this evening.  It is our intention to have a positive experience in a relaxing atmosphere for all of our grade 9 students and their guests.

Similar to last year, a formal graduation ceremony will not be held. With the mandated decision of the June Grading and Assessment days being reduced from three to two, it is extremely difficult to have exams and major tests corrected while producing accurate report cards.  For the current year, the June days have now been reduced to one day with the other days occurring throughout the year.  With this in mind, we will be striking a student focus group in the near future to assist us in coming up with an appropriate way to celebrate student success at Bible Hill Junior High.  What this will look like will depend on student input, time frames, cost and/or availability of venues.  We are very much looking forward to working with students to create an event that will continue to celebrate student success at Bible Hill Junior High.
