BIRTHDAYS:  We would like to wish a Happy Birthday to John Gibson, Nathan MacLeod and Dakota Pinhorn.

1.  There is no school for Grades 6, 7 & 8 students on Friday, November 22nd.  It is a Grading & Classifying day for teachers.

2.  Middle School News meeting today at lunch in Room S-01.

3.  Thank you to Rosie Eksal, Robyn McCormick-Hurley, Emma McRury and Devon Penney for representing BEC at Thursday's Headstrong Summit at         Cape Breton University.  They did a wonderful job representing your school and will be planning some events in the very near future promoting             mental wellness.

4.  Free 2 B U will meet next on Wednesday, November 19th, during lunch in the guidance boardroom for the girls in grades 6, 7 & 8 who have already signed up.  
5.  Students can sign up for the coffee house in Mr. Burke's Music Room, J-54.  The Coffee House will be held on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7 p.m.

6.  Information is posted in the guidance office regarding the Mining Rocks Video Contest open to students in grades 7-12.  Full contest details are             available at www.NotYourGrandfathersMining.ca/contest.  


1.  A notice to grade 11 and 12 students that St. Mary's University will be here tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9 a.m. in the library for anyone interested.  They will have information for you about programs, scholarships and residence.  All interested grade 11 and 12 students are welcome.  Please sign up in the guidance office.

2.  A representative from St. F.X. University will be here on Wednesday, November 27th, at 9 a.m. in the library to speak to any grade 11 or 12 students who are interested.  John will be happy to meet with students individually or in a group and will provide information on programs, scholarships and residence.  Please leave your name in the guidance office if you are interested.

3.  Acadia University's representative will be in the library at lunchtime on Thursday, November 28th, to speak to all high school students that are interested,  They will be happy to answer questions and to provide information about programs, scholarships and admissions.

4.  The application for the Kiwanis Club of Cape Breton Golden K Bursaries is now available in the guidance office.  They will be awarding three $1000 bursaries to graduates from our high school who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution, full time, in September.  Applications must be postmarked by Friday, April 24, 2020.

5.  Any potential graduate who plans on pursuing a career in Engineering should check out the information received on the Peter Kohler Scholarship posted on the guidance bulletin board.  The deadline is January 15, 2020.


1.  Every year the University of King's College offer 14 renewable Academic Athletic Scholarships for scholar athletes who play varsity sports.  They will be hosting an information session in Sydney on November 27, 2019.  At this time, you can learn more about the university and take advantage of free expedited admissions.  For more information check

2.  Holland College will be hosting Campus Tour Day on  Saturday, February 1st.  More information is available at hollandcollege.com.
