Bishop Academy Teachers Win State Awards

Howard Bishop Middle School teachers Jamie Morris and Elisa Beachy were recognized recently by the Florida Council for the Social Studies (FCSS). Morris, an 8th grade history teacher, won the organization’s 2011 Teaching American History Award. Beachy, a 7th grade geography teacher, received the J.R. Skretting Outstanding Leadership Award, which recognizes service to the organization. Both were honored at the recent FCSS state conference in St. Petersburg. One of Morris’ lesson plans will also be published in the state’s social studies education journal.
