ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Meet Ms. Lash!

I am Jami Lash, the new school counselor for the Professional Academies Magnet at Loften High School. I am excited to join Loften’s Student Services team for the 2018-2019 school year! The guidance programming is designed to assist your student in making the most of their educational experiences. As your student’s counselor, I am dedicated to their success at Loften and their personal and social development, academic progress, and post-secondary plans.

I am a graduate of the University of Florida’s School Counseling and Guidance Program where I received both my Education Specialist and Masters of Education degrees. My graduate school program is accredited by the American Counseling Association’s Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), the nationally recognized accrediting agency for counseling graduate programs. I am a certified school counselor by the Florida Department of Education.

The following are specific activities that are offered by the counseling program:

1.     Periodic classroom lessons related to positive personal growth and development

2.     Topical small group counseling services for students with parental consent

3.     Individual Planning services and Individual crisis counseling services

4.     Referrals to Mental Health Professionals and Community Agencies

5.     Consultation Student Services/ 504 Accommodation Meetings

Unfortunately, I am not able to provide the following services to your student or to parents:

1.     Providing intensive long-term counseling services when a child needs them.

2.     Testify in court in child-custody matters.

Fun Facts About Me: My hometown is Orlando, FL, but I’ve been in Gainesville for close to a decade.  A few of my favorite things are going to the beach, cheering for the Florida Gators, coffee, and chocolate. I look forward to joining the 'Loften Eagles' this year!

Additionally: October 1st- FAFSA Opens!! Visit fafsa.ed.gov to fill out the application and fsaid.ed.gov to register for you FSA ID (required to complete the FAFSA).


Please do not hesitate to set up a conference. For parent/teacher conferences please allow 48 hours notice to inform the teachers before a meeting. Most meetings are held at 7:45 A.M. Please note, the best way to get information about your student's success in the classroom is to contact the teachers directly, preferably via e-mail.
