*Mystery Skype-Ireland

posted Feb 10, 2014, 4:16 AM by Jenny Stahl

A couple of a weeks ago, we Mystery Skyped with a country almost half way around the world! It took a while to guess their country. Can you guess what country it is?

For the first clue, we found out that they’re north of the equator. After that, we found out that they were located in Europe. Next, we asked if they were on an island and they said yes. We figured out that they were not north of the U.K. We were narrowing it down to a few islands. After some wrong guesses, we discovered that it was Ireland!

After we guessed their country, we went back and forth asking questions about Ireland and they did the same. Their school was an all boys school. Isn't that so cool? St. Stephen's De La Salle Primary School has 417 students and it's K-6 grade. Almost all of the schools in Ireland have uniforms.

Waterford, Ireland is the city where their school is located. Their city is 1,100 years old. It is the oldest city in Ireland! There must be some old stories there! The famous people from Ireland are Seamus (the wrestler), U2 (the band), and Niall Horan (from One Direction). In Ireland, it does not snow that often. Since it doesn't snow there very often, they probably get excited when it snows. The temperature when we Skyped with them was 8 C. For us, that is equal to 50 F. We learned a lot from this Mystery Skype!

Exciting news from our 4th grade classroom… we’re ready for a listening center! This school year (and for years to come), I want to ensure that my students have what they need to succeed, so I've created a request on a 501(c)3 charity website called DonorsChoose.org.

I'm writing to ask for any donations possible for my students - no matter the size (seriously, every little bit counts). This week only, any donation you make to my project will be doubled!

If you can't donate anything at this time, no worries... just share this information with anyone who you know is passionate about education. Your donation will have a direct impact on at least 14 students this year and you'll hear back from our class about your impact!

Here’s my classroom request:

To have your donation matched dollar for dollar, enter the promo code DISNEY on the payment screen. IMPORTANT: The DISNEY promo code will only double your donation for the next 7 days.

Please feel free to send me any questions you may have, and know that my students and I greatly appreciate your support.

Thank you again and happy new year!

Ms. Jones
