NEXT STEPS TECH PD COURSES

These courses are designed to extend your integration of 1:1 technology beyond the substitution level. Participants may accumulate 12 hours of these Next Steps courses, which may earn 1 (ONE) salary credit through the district.* Only courses that are "Next Steps" and meet outside of the school day may count for credit; Courses that meet during the school day do not. CPDUs are also available for these courses.

Advanced Schoology

Topics above and beyond the Schoology basics learned in previous professional development will be explored. Topics include: rubric creation and use, alignment of assignments, tests/quizzes to standards, tracking mastery, and use of student completion tools (student paced learning). Advanced feedback tools will also be investigated (video & audio feedback).

App Smashing with Images

Most apps offer some, but not all, features students need to create an authentic product. The Images/Visuals app smashing course will help teachers develop ways for students to demonstrate understanding of concepts and skills visually, and then share those visuals with others.

However, using just one app can lead to boring or incomplete products. This course will explore how students can blend visual media to create and publish engaging videos that demonstrate their understandings.

Teachers will learn strategies and tools to help students maintain bodies of work that represent their skill development over time. We will help teachers identify the types of artifacts for their content areas that would best help show growth. Tools for curating and workflow will be explored, including giving feedback on portfolio development.
