Smith Middle School students are encouraged to participate in the Nutmeg Book Awards program every year in several ways:

·        All Nutmeg titles are added to the summer reading list.

·        In June, Nutmeg books are highlighted in “summer reading” book talks conducted by the Library Media Specialist and the Welles Turner Young Adult librarian.

·        Nutmeg Book Award banners are distributed to all English teachers every year.

·        Students may write reviews of the Nutmeg books to earn extra credit in English class.

·        Students who have read two or more of the Nutmeg Book Award nominees are invited to vote for his/her favorite in May.
