Safe Grad 101: What Every Parent Needs to Know!

What is Safe Grad? This is a drug and alcohol free celebration on the night of graduation for seniors. Safe Grad is a parent sponsored night of fun held at GHS from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM. There are games, decorations, prizes, food, music and entertainment.

Who is on the committee organizing Safe Grad? Parents of 2019 graduates. Please feel free to contact the appropriate member with questions or offers to help.

Who can attend? Only graduates of GHS 2019 and parent/adult volunteers working at the event.

What is the dress code? School Dress Code will be followed. No bags or backpacks are allowed in.

Can my graduate leave before the end of the event? Yes, but they will not be allowed back inside. Parents will not be notified if graduates leave early.  It is suggested that parents plan to pick up their graduate at 5:00 AM.

How can I help? You can donate a tax deductible gift to our Fundraising Chair to help fund this event. (The entire event is sponsored via donations. Please see additional information below). You can help work on decorations for the event.

How is this event paid for? By tax deductible donations from the community and parents. You can contribute money, prizes and food. Donations can be made in either of these 2 ways:

You can send your donation by check made payable to Safe Grad Class of 2019 at PO Box 101, Glastonbury, CT 06033.
Please contact Cara Andreoli at or Ellen Smith at  with any questions

What kind of prizes are given out? Each graduate can participate in the raffle for gifts that are given out during the event. These prizes are donated or purchased with donated funds. The Prize Committee works all year to get great deals on things the grads will love! If you would like to donate a prize for the raffle, contact our Prize Committee chairs and they can offer suggestions:

What is the Memory Room? Parents and family of the Class of 2019 can submit posters with pictures of their graduates. The posters are all put up in the Memory Room for everyone to enjoy! Guidelines are as follows: Use 14x22" poster board, no foam core please. Design for landscape and not portrait layout. Include student's first name in large bold letters on the front of the poster. Write their FULL name on the backside of the poster board. Posters may be dropped off at the front door security desk beginning in May. They may be picked up by the student/parent beginning the day after graduation. Posters not picked up by July 1 will be recycled.

Will kind of entertainment is provided? Lots of fun and games will be at Safe Grad...we like to keep it a secret.

Will there be food at this event? Yes, and we need lots of it! The Food Committee is hard at work now! Some food is donated and some is purchased. Please contact the PTO contacts if you can help with food donations or can help serve that night. If your child has food allergies or restrictions please let us know so we can accommodate their needs. All parents will be asked to donate bottled water or sports drinks. You will receive an email with additional information about food donations closer to Graduation.

What about GHS Grad Yard signs? This is a fundraiser for Safe Grad and a great way to show your pride of your graduate. Lawn Sign sales will start up in the Spring. Additional information will be sent out on this via Alert Now.
