About Me!

Dear Families:

My name is Jennifer Smith, and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. I am a 2002 graduate of The Ohio State University, where I obtained a Master’s Degree in Education. Over the past twenty years, I have taught kindergarten, second, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. This is my 13th year at High Point, and I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade this year. I love spending my days with kids, as I have triplets who turn 15 in September! Abby, Jake, and Ben bring me such joy and fun, and I love to see the excitement they have for learning. I can't wait to see this with your child, too. I am looking forward to an exciting, productive year working with you and your child.

We have a Golden Retriever named Bella and a Yellow Lab named Barkley. We currently reside in the New Albany/Johnstown area.

Throughout my years of teaching, I have become committed to the importance of parent involvement in a student’s education. I firmly believe that your child receives the best education possible when you and I work as a team.

I will be keeping in close touch with you the rest of the year. Please do the same with me. I welcome your calls and messages. Any time you have something you would like to discuss with me, please call the school office at 478-5545. I will return your call as quickly as possible. You may also reach me via email at smithj@gjps.org. Please review your child’s planner and folder nightly. I believe this is a valuable communication tool between the classroom and home. The students will have their homework in it, and I plan to include other important information for you as needed.

I am usually available for a conference after school (depending on the day). Please write a note or call ahead to schedule a conference.
