At least 2 days per week throughout the year, your child can expect to be running and/or participating in some type of aerobic training. As part of our commitment to help your children become more physically fit, we have instituted a fitness unit that teaches about muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular strength, and overall flexibility. We have seen the benefits of our workouts, and our hope is that the trend will continue as they go forth from PE.
On the days we work on skills, we will be following the state department of education's five standards of physical education.
The Ohio Department of Education has now implemented a system that requires PE teachers to assess students' skill levels as they take PE. A set of numbers will serve as the scoring rubric. Grades of 3 (advanced), 2 (proficient), or 1 (limited) will be used to determine where your child falls in certain categories. This took effect during the 2012-2013 school year.
