2.Rehearsal begins with the second bell.  Due to the distance must travel to the Choir Room, students will have a 1 minute grace period after the bell.  Students who are not in their seat at this time will be considered tardy.
3.Respect will be given to the director and accompanist at all times.  Respect will be given to all members of the choir.
4.Talking will be kept to a minimum at all times during the rehearsal out of respect to the director and accompanist to allow everyone the benefit of direction.  Students who fail to follow this guideline will be asked to leave class.

6.Folders should be returned to appropriate slots at the end of each rehearsal.

Students will be graded daily on the following:

*Do I support my fellow musicians?
2.  Positive Classroom Citizenship:

Lessons

Lessons will be made available to all students during study halls, before school and or after school as the director schedule allows.  All freshmen and students who are new to the choir are required to take lessons for one semester unless they have no study hall available and are involved in activities before and after the school day.  While lessons are not part of the student’s grade, they are extremely beneficial and DO count towards a student’s lettering points.  Lessons may be participated in on an individual basis or in a group and are scheduled at the director’s discretion as well as the availability of time.

Concerts

Concerts are a vital part of participation in Mixed Choir.  Concerts are an assessment tool for the classroom. Students will have adequate time to notify work and family of their obligation to the choir and their attendance at concerts.  A list of Vocal music dates are attached to this syllabus.  Concerts will be one component included in assessment procedures and group or individual aural assessments would be done during lessons. Students who fail to perform at a concert or State Contest, outside of illness or family emergency will be required to fulfill a performance outside of the school setting or submit a written assessment at the director’s discretion. If the outside performance is the choice of the student, the performance will be secured by the student, NOT the director.   If a student elects to do neither, they will receive a zero for the missed performance.
