I am Mrs. Colleen Creager and I am
the Resource Room and Reading teacher for Kensington Rd. School. This
is my 11th year of teaching and I love what I do! It's
exciting to meet so many wonderful children and to be a part of their
education. So come on in and see what we're doing in Reading, Writing,
and Math here at KRS! I look forward to working with you this
year! Please contact me at any time. The phone number at KRS is 793-5151. The best way to reach me is through email: ccreager@gfsd.org. I check it regularly. You may hear two different terms being said for "Reading Help". AIS and RTI. AIS stands for Academic Intervention Services and RTI stands for Response to Intervention. Both of these terms mean that your child is getting academic support (whether inside and/or outside of the classroom). I provide a small group learning environment where reading and writing skills are reinforced. Parent/Teacher communication takes place throughout the year, including quarterly progress reports. The goal of the reading department is to help each student continue to strengthen their love of learning. I am here to support you with reading strategies and writing skills. I focus on skills to meet their individual needs. Within my Resource and AIS groups, I incorporate the Wilson Reading and the Orton-Gillingham Reading Programs. These programs work on specific decoding strategies to help 'sound out' or 'tap' a word. Along with that, we read level-appropriate books, and work on sight words. I like to send home books-in-a-bag. Please have your child read the book to you and return it to me when you are through. When the children returns the book, they can borrow another from my library. |
