Google Apps Introduction for K12 Teachers

A Georgia Southern, College of Education Outreach Project !!

First 6 Hours (4 sessions)

Each session will be 1.5 hours.  These sessions form the cornerstone of Google Apps knowledge for all educators and even system staff. They cover skills vital to everyone, and are not exclusive to classroom teachers. They Include:
  1. Google Apps Communication Tools for School Operations: Focus on Gmail, Calendar, and Hangouts for managerial tasks and day-to-day operations. Good for everyone in the system to attend (teachers, principals, staff, etc). VERY helpful for system-wide adoption 
  2. Google Drive BasicsSetup, simple collaboration, file management 
  3. Intermediate-Publishing with Drive: Importing/converting Office files, publishing, form.
  4. Google SitesSetup, private and public sites, general page creation 

Four Followup Sessions (1 hr each)

These would be at a later date (to be determined by the participants) and be online in small groups, and will require a computer with a webcam or headset & microphone. These are more classroom-centered, targeted at teachers and administrators. 
  • Google Searching for class research and information literacy
  • Using Google Drive for Instruction & Student projects
  • YouTube for delivering content and editing video
  • Google Chrome Browser: Chrome sync, apps, chromebooks
