Finbarr Curtis received his PhD in Religious Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and has taught at the University of Alabama, Lafayette College, Bucknell University, Fresno State, New York University, and the University of California, San Diego.  He studies religion and politics and has published essays on theory and method as well as American religions in Religion, the Journal of Religion, the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, and the Hedgehog Review.  His book, entitled The Production of American Religious Freedom, was published by New York University Press. He is currently working on a book entitled So Much Winning: Insults, Offense, and Religion in a Profane Age,  which is under contract with the University of Chicago Press.

He also contributes an occasional blog post to the Immanent Frame and Leviathan and You.
