Sonya S. Shepherd was selected to present a 45 minute workshop entitled "Lessons Learned While Developing an Effective Culture of Assessment for Library Instruction" at the 2013 Atlanta Area Bibliographic Instruction Group (AABIG) conference on May 17, 2013 at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA.  Sonya currently serves as the Library Assessment Officer (LAO) in the Zach S. Henderson Library at Georgia Southern University where she collaborates with all library units to create and manage assessments of library services and instruction. Additionally, Sonya serves as library liaison to the College of Education, offers research assistance at the Information Desk, and contributes to the Library’s instruction and collection development activities. She has also actively participated in numerous library and campus committees as well as previously serving as the Learning Commons Director (3 years) and Associate Department Head (8 years) of the Information Services Department in the Zach S. Henderson Library. She also serves the library profession on the state level as well as serves her community through her church and sorority memberships. Sonya holds a B.S degree in Computer Science with Mathematics (1993, LaGrange College) , M.S. in Library Service (1995, Clark Atlanta University) and a Doctor of Education in Educational Administration (2003, Georgia Southern University).
