Bryn Ludlow

Art can teach close observation through a technique called Visual Thinking Strategies. Some art incorporates the theme of close looking. In Bryn Ludlow’s drawing, the need for a magnifying glass draws the viewer’s attention to the act of looking itself. Other artworks that draw the viewer’s attention to subtle findings that require careful looking include Nicholas Nixon’s series on the Brown sisters. In this series, 4 sisters are photographed year after year. There seems to be no difference in their age from year to year, but the aging process becomes visible over time.
