Jeffrey M. Duerr, M.S., Ph.D.

Professor of Biology

Professor Duerr received the B.S. and B.A. degrees in Biology and Chemistry in 1989 from Whitworth University; his M.S. degree in Comparative Physiology from Portland State University in 1991; and a PhD in Cell Physiology from the University of Hawai'i in 1997.

Professor Duerr's research interests are in bioenergetics, mitochondrial physiology, cellular adaptations to hyperosmotic and hypoxic stress, and hypometabolic states.  He maintains an active research program at GFU in which undergraduate student collaboration is actively encouraged.  Professor Duerr lives in Newberg with his wife and three daughters, and enjoys cooking, live jazz and bookstores.
