With this post we wish to personally thank Pastor Michael Powers, Angela Taylor, Lonnie Edwards, Jennifer Smith, Danny Corter, and other behind- the- scenes community volunteers for the work they do for the school through Gentry First Assembly. They have donated food, time, and effort this year in big ways. They are fabulous community support for our schools/students. This week they have stocked the food pantry by Harps and donated 28 cases of emergency food packs to help feed needy students over Spring Break. Earlier in the year they worked with a third party donor to provide new shoes for GPS students and they are offering skills, time and resources, for a free basketball clinic for grades 3-6 March 30-31, 2018. (deadline to sign up is Friday, forms are available at GIS, GMS, or Gentry First Assembly office.) As a side note, In the future they have plans to donate more food in the community above and beyond what they already do with their local food bank. This is a "standing ovation" for this group of caring people, though they didn't ask for it or even expect it.  We are fortunate as a district to have a wealth of great community partners, and our desire going forward is to see the lines of school, community, and business, overlap; creating intersections of mutually beneficial relationships that will make the community of Gentry, as well as Gentry Public Schools, stand out in a positive way in our area.
