Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Ordot-Chalan Pago Elementary School!  My name is Robyn Cruz and I will be your child’s school counselor for School Year 2019-2020.  My role at OCPES is to provide guidance and support to help your children succeed academically, socially and emotionally throughout the school year.  During a child’s elementary years, they start to develop academic self –concept, feelings of confidence and competence as learners, decision-making and communication skills, life skills and character values.

Counseling activities include individual or group counseling, whole class presentations and observations. Major areas of focus include:  Guidance lessons on character education such as trust, responsibility, respect, conflict resolution, bullying, etc.  Individual Supportive Counseling, available to students on a short-term basis either by self, teacher, administrator or parent referral/request.  A referral to a community resource agency is available should long-term assistance be needed.  Small Group Supportive Counseling, available for students by self, teacher, administrator or parent referral. 4-6 students to meet once a week for twenty minute sessions, for eight weeks receiving support involving topics such as friendship, grief /loss, separation/divorce, anger management, improving attendance, etc.  A few other activities students will partake in is the OCPES annual United Nations Parade, Career Day and the ending of the school year District Wide Assessment.

I look forward to working with you and your child this school year.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me via telephone at 477-9645, you can email me at robyn.cruz@gdoe.net or you may stop by my office located in the main office.
