Updated December 5, 2020

My name is Mrs. Lynn Renn. This is my twenty-fourth year of teaching. I have taught in different grades here at Brookwood. I spent one year in fifth grade, eleven years in third grade, and eleven years in kindergarten. I absolutely love teaching! I look forward to this year’s kindergarten adventures. I completed my Master’s Degree in August of 2009. My husband and I have been married for twenty years and have two children. Emily is attending Gateway College. She is a firefighter-EMT for Twin Lakes Fire Department. Anthony is a Junior attending Wilmot Union High School.

Welcome to 5K kindergarten with Mrs. Renn in room 105 at Brookwood Elementary School. You may be joining in our learning in person or virtually. We will learn a lot from each other this year as we begin this new adventure!

Seesaw is the place for messages and a digital portfolio of your child’s work. Please be sure to connect to stay up-to-date.

Your child will be provided a Brookwood School email address and password. Information and recorded lessons will be passed along daily.

Please check our calendar for upcoming events.

Just a few notes for during the year:

Dressing for School

Please make sure your child is dressed comfortably each day. We spend a lot of time on the floor and being active. Footwear should be something your child can independently put on while being safe at school. Open-toed shoes and flip-flops should be saved for home. If tie shoes are worn, please work with your child so they can tie them by themselves. Athletic shoes can be left at school for gym days and winter boot season. Please label shoes with your child’s name.

We will be going outside for recess daily unless it is raining or unreasonably cold at recess time. Please make sure your child has appropriate outerwear for chilly, rainy, or snowy days. Mark your child’s name in these items to be sure they are returned if misplaced. (Jackets, mittens, and snow pants look very similar when hanging at school.)

Take-home Folder

It is important to bring these folders to school each day. Please be sure to check your child’s take-home folder daily for announcements, at-home activities, and student work. Have your child tell you about their work. The folder has been labeled with “keep” and “return.” Items found on the “keep” side stay at home. Items found on the “return” side need to be completed and returned to school the following morning or as soon as possible. I check the folder each morning, so please tuck any notes from home or lunch money in the folder where I’ll be sure to find them. Be sure your child’s name is clearly labeled on envelopes/notes.

Please look through your child’s completed work and provide positive feedback to your child regarding their efforts. If you see papers that need improvement, please spend a few extra minutes practicing the concept. Be sure to include your child in meaningful conversations regarding his or her progress. Place important papers in a special place so you will know where to locate them as needed.

Please send a written note if your child will be traveling home using an alternate method. If a child will be picked up from school, please state the name of the person picking him/her up to assist the teachers outside at the end of the day.

Cough drops are allowed if your child has a cough. Please send them in a bag with a note allowing me to give them to your child as needed.

Please be sure to send in an extra set of clothes in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name. Accidents and spills happen. We like to be prepared.
*If clothes come home wet/dirty, please send replacement clothes for your child.
