March 13 and March 14 are now regular full days of school. Parent Conferences will be held on Thursday, March 13 from 3:30 - 7:00. Report Cards will be sent home with students on Thursday, March 13.
We are currently selling raffle tickets for $1. The money raised from raffle tickets sales will go towards purchasing new computers for our students and staff. The drawing will be for a $500 winner, a $100 winner, and eight $50 winners. The drawing will take place on April 14, 2014. Please consider supporting EGHS by buying yours today!
The National College Fair
The National College Fair will be in Charlotte at "The Park" (formerly known as the Charlotte Merchandise Mart) on Sunday, March 9th, 2014, from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Gaston College CCP Information Session
Attention Rising Juniors & Seniors: Gaston College will host a Career & College Promise (CCP) Information Session for residents in Gaston County. In addition info on CCP, information about Gaston College's College Transfer (CT) and Career Technical Education (C-TE) Pathways will be available. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in learning more about CCP and the options available for earning college credit tuition free. The information session will be on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 5:30-6:30 at the Lena Beam Early College Partnership Building in the Commons Area.
Gaston County Schools will host a College Expo on Saturday, March 22 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm at the Gastonia Conference Center (145 South Marietta St., Downtown Gastonia). Meet with representatives from colleges and universities in North Carolina and across the Southeast. Learn about applying to and paying for college. Get answers to your questions about preparing for college. Open to the public. Admission is free.

Rise in SAT Scores
In 2012-13, East Gaston showed a 67 point gain in average SAT scores from 1396 to 1463. This ranks East Gaston as the second highest score in Gaston County Schools. Way to go WARRIORS! Get the full break down here.
Matthew 5:41 Trail Run/Walk
Matthew 5:41 Ministries will be hosting a 5k Trail Run/Walk at Common Grounds (5481 Hickory Grove, Stanley, NC) on April 5, 2014.The entry fee is $15 for students and children, $20 for adults.
All pre-registered participants will receive a race t-shirt. There will be a $100 prize for the Best Overall Time, and medals awarded to Top 3 Male Students, Top 3 Female Students, Top 3 Male Adults, and Top 3 Female Adults. The event will raise funds for EGHS's current and alumni students facing hardships, tragedies, or serious illnesses, in addition to contribute to a scholarship for a graduating EGHS senior. The event will also help raise funds for needed supplies and equipment.
