The Gary Lee Ryon, Jr. Memorial Foundation, Inc. came into existence in 2002 after the death of Gary Lee Ryon, Jr. It was created by his mother, Betty and two sisters Elizabeth and Ida. The primary purpose of the foundation is to honor Gary by awarding scholarships to children Gary's age. Gary was an outgoing, friendly, fun-loving young man who loved sports and excelled in them. His favorite sports were soccer and lacrosse. One of Gary’s coaches would say that he had wheels because he was so fast. It was Gary’s Aunt Lisa Caltabiano who had the idea to honor Gary with a soccer tournament in his name. Six tournaments have been held in Gary's memory in the southern Anne Arundel County, Maryland, to raise scholarship funds and our hope is to resume this fun event in the near future.
