Since May 2023, students record their journey through the NYAA app. Your account will be created upon successful registration. All password and account set up details are sent to your school gmail account.
To fulfill NYAA requirements, you must reflect weekly on your activities with evidence of what you have been doing within the required time frame. The idea is that the reflections are your progression towards the goals you set for each section of the award; Service Learning, Outdoor Appreciation, Healthy Living and Community Leadership (Gold only).
At each monthly meeting, your coordinator will check in on you and your progress on reflections.
You are required to set goals for each section of the award. These goals are then used to guide your NYAA journey and evidence growth and learning.
When setting goals for each component, it is important that you consider how you will evidence meeting and/or achieving these goals.
Using SMART goals is a good way to ensure that you are setting goals that are relevant and have purpose.
Consider setting short- and long-term goals.
Healthy Living
I want to increase my level of fitness by running at least 20 minutes four times per week. I aim to do this over a period of 6 months
Service Learning
Over the course of the school year, I aim to raise funds (at least $200) for ACE (Asian Children's Education) to help educate children in Bangladesh. I will raise these funds through actively participating in weekly GC meetings and spending my time contributing to fundraising events.

Healthy Living:
"This month I tried out for the frisbee team. At first I had trouble, as throwing the frisbee with the correct technique was quite difficult. Within the first session, my backhand improved and I was able to pass with my partner. The difficulty was with my forehand, as this technique was a bit more complicated, and required a grip that I wasn’t used to holding a frisbee with. Over the next few sessions, I slowly got better at this, and I think that my fitness improved, as there is a lot more running than I originally anticipated, meaning that for the first two or three lessons, I struggled, and was in physical pain afterwards.
I will continue with developing my frisbee skills as this is contributing towards my goal of learning a new sport-related skill and playing for a school sports-related team."

"In Child@ Street 11 this month we have experienced the children more and got to know about their lives and as well as what they like to do by talking to the teachers so that we are best able to plan for the coming months. My peers and I found out that the children at Child @Street 11 look forward to our visits every week and consider it the highlight of their week when they get to experience something different than their day to day activities. One of my favorite things that we experience at Child @Street 11 is when we bring new games from UWC to them and they get so excited to play them as it's something that they normally don’t have makes us so happy when we see their little faces light up with joy once they see what we have brought. I also love how we are really getting to know these students and their personalities are coming through as they get more comfortable with us. When we leave now they come to the door and give us many hugs and can’t wait to see us next week, it makes me light up inside as I feel the joy from the children.
I will continue to attend Child@ Street 11 and give my time to the children here as I feel that this is developing my interpersonal skills and is also contributing towards my service goal. To further meet my service goal of providing emotional and educational support to underprivileged children, I will spend more time next month focusing on how I can incorporate educational elements to my meetings with the children."
