Here is a little bit more about what I am doing in college:
I am majoring in mathematics and economics, and business. I further plan to apply to graduate school in the United States after finishing my college. I might apply for some jobs too. Depending on my options, I will decide in the coming year.Apart from that, I work as a Community Assistant on Campus. It is a one of the highest valued student jobs on campus. The interview process is highly competitive and selective. As a CA, I am responsible of the residents that live on my floor. I applied for the job knowing that it will be out of my comfort zone. I am not a very socializing person and to be a CA means we are expected to cultivate a strong community bond between the residents, while assisting with the educational, cultural and social development of each resident. I challenged myself to apply for the job and here I am today, successfully working as a CA since two semesters.
More details about my position can be found here: http://www.stlawu.edu/residence-life/community-assistants-job-description
I also work as a Reading and Math tutor, we go out to teach school students Math and reading in our town, twice a week. I learn a lot about American Culture, and it always makes me happy to see school kids. I enjoy helping them with their class works and assisting them with school activities, More details can be found here: http://www.stlawu.edu/education/reading-math-tutor-program
I am also involved in several other student organization on campus, such as: ASIA, Dance and I-house.
September 2014 Stanzin arrives in US.
Hello all, my classes has started. Everything is going good so far.
We have to take 4/5 units/course each semester which equals to 33.5 units (courses) in our four years at the college_including compulsory 11/12 units from the field of our majors. I am planning on taking Mathematics majors (i might think of Computer Science as another option too). We are required to decide/finalize on our majors in our second year. For this semester i am taking Economics, Computer Science, Calculus and one compulsory first year program.
The books are very expensive, excluding computer science book, it costs me almost 600 dollars to purchase the books for three of my courses. I am pretty worried about the expense of the textbooks in future as my intended major (mathematics) costs the highest :( , i might have to work on campus to pay those bills.
Otherwise people are nice here, teachers are good too :)
I am liking it so far. hope everything is good there.
Best,
Stanzin.
Dear UWC-SEA,
This two years of IB in the Mahindra United World College of Pune have been extraordinarily different and life changing experience for me. I belonging to a middle class family from one of the most isolated region in the north India is now going to complete my further education in the United States of America. Its like a dream coming true for me, the dream which the UWC-SEA has changed into reality.
I don't know how I will be ever able to thank you for your support without which it wouldn't have been possible at all. But I can assure that I will never make you disappoint at your huge amount of contribution towards my education because trust me, I will make all of you proud one day!
Regards and thanks from my family in Ladakh.
Thank you very much.

MUWCI.
Hello
Sorry for not staying in touch for so long
Second year was bit too hectic and kept me very busy.
Its almost the end of IB, end of life at Mahindra United World College Pune. I am having my trial exams now and will be giving my finals in May.
I don't know how to put how I feel in words. Its a mixed feelings, I am so eager to go back home and visit my family and old friends but at the same time I am scared of losing the life at MUWCI behind. I am also excited for my college life in US but I am also very sad that I have to live way to far from my hometown. But thats what life is, facing difficulties and managing the changes that comes in one's life.
Whatsoever I am so very glad of UWC-SEA for providing me with the scholarship to complete my two years of IB in MUWCI.
Regards,
Stanzin.
Project Week
how are you ? hope you are fit and fine with the grace of the almightyi had a wonderful time in south india with friends for travel week, ir was truly an awesome break after si much works,
i have shared some photos with you :)
Well !
what i had imagined and what actually happened was totally different....
i thought i will miss my parents and wont be able to adjust for the first week but frankly speaking life is so busy that it didn't even give me time to miss and feel home sick.....
first week was the orientation week... i had lots of fun as i actively participated in all the activities...namely Hindi treasure hunt, hiking at a distant hill for one night, first year show, mud fight, pune visit etc. etc.
the first week was interesting, tiring,n above all it was just AWESOME!
and then from the next week the trial period started...
i am quite suffering to cope up with the subject as IB is totally different,... the chapters which i never had a basic concept is being taught from a quite higher level. it was also little uncomfortable living in between British ascent English speakers but now its fine!
yesterday we celebrated indian regional cultural evening and it was fune..as i perfromed on my own ladakhi song with one of my fren.
i have made my time table (management of time) and trying to give equal time for everything
felt sick for 2 weeks and suffered from a very bad headache n that maybe because of the new environment.
and last i am very thankful to UWCSEA for this wonderful new experience and everything.
i will make the most of it and wont let you down.
i will pray to god to shower happiness upon you .
thank you
i have attached some pictures
i have collected them from my frens who clicked me as i dont have a personal camera...iam sorry....will keep sending you pictures later!
